In an Asian Affair, Milk and Honey to do the lickin' by Leon Setaro

Racing at Scottsville today on the inside track and as we’ve come to expect these days, another rough ride on the cards.

In the 5th race Milk and Honey is favourite at 16/10 after being claimed in from 2/1. Her main dangers look to be the promising 3 year olds Asian Affair and Cocoa Beach, with Maelstrom and Nordic Moon always lurker material in this type of field. Also of interest is that Uber Rock has found some support on Interbet early and she's a classy filly on her day capable of winning this sort of race.

No.4 Milk and Honey (16/10)
Comes in with plenty in her favour, she's racing fit and her excellent last run was here at Scottsville over 1800m only two weeks back. She's a light-framed, versatile filly with plenty of speed and 1400m is right up her alley. A worthy favourite and the likely winner in this competitive event. 16/10 perhaps a tad short, 2/1 better.

No.3 Asian Affair (3/1) and No.5 Cocoa Beach (5/1)
They met last time out in the Poinsettia with Asian Affair finishing much faster at the death. She's probably looking for further to show her best as indicated by her nomination in the Woolavington Cup over 2000m, as well as the way she surged forward late in her last start when the rest were plodding. It was a race marred with interference and Cocoa Beach was on the receiving end, expect more from her with a clear run and bear in mind that was her first start in KZN.

No.1 Maelstrom (8/1), No.2 Nordic Moon (14/1), and No.6 Uber Rock (8/1) all have the credentials to contest the outcome and should be included if you want piece of mind in the Pick 6. Having said that, Milk and Honey is probably the closest thing to a banker this side of odds-on today.. if you must have one that is.

In the 6th race No.3 Gamesmanship (7/2) is a huge runner and worth a bet with a stretch thrown in to sweeten the deal. This is an absolute beaut of a racehorse, a sweet balance of raw power with a long stride and a picture on the canter past last time out and looking just one run short of fire and brimstone. Sure to be kick-ass today and you'll get a run for your money if you back him!

There was a late scratching in this race this morning (Seven Brothers) which now brings reserve runner No.14 Saumarez Park (7/1) into the fray. He carries only 52kgs from gate 2 and is a big danger to all here. Gets 7kgs from Gamesmanship and in a race like this I can't see the 7/1 lasting. Get some early as cover if you're backing anything else here.

Looking beyond these two and No.1
Facing Federer (2/1) is the favourite and has obvious claims on form, No.6
Chorday (10/1) is decent on his day and the Dixon stable should be watched coming back after a (virus) break. No.5
Yuraking (12/1) is a must include at this track and on ability.

In Race 4 No.4
In Writing (6/10) is the supposed good thing for the day but watch out for a big run from No.2
Debonair Man (7/2) he's better than his record suggests.

The 7th race is a very competitive event and if you're looking for a couple of roughies to throw into the exotics, consider No.9
Presidential Jet (10/1) and No.10
Clever Flight (8/1) both have claims to sneak in should the primary contenders fail.
