Super Filly Wins Kentucky Oaks by 20 lengths

Rachel Alexandra today won the Kentucky Oaks by 20 1/4 lengths in the single greatest display I have witnessed since I saw Secretariat win the Triple Crown in 1973.

She won in breathtaking style, pressing the pace to the 400m mark, then effortlessly putting away to win with the rider looking back from time to time.

She is from the first crop of foals of $4.5-million earner Medaglia d'Or, a stallion that I had the good fortune of buying for his current owner after he was retired from racing.

This filly probably could have won tomorrow's Kentucky Derby.

I believe Calvin Borel has chosen to ride her over Mine That Bird in the Preakness. I wonder how hard a choice that was but won't he look like a chop if MTB wins the Triple Crown...!

I read somewhere that he was contracted to ride her. No idea if that's true/correct or not.

I thought it was 8/10, but see blue sq, sporting bet and sky bet all have 2/1.

Will also be having a wee peck on the flying filly.

I would happily have backed it at 8/10.
