Is the handicapper on steroids?

After last Saturday’s meeting:

Senor Versace goes 102 to 105
Second horse Catmandu goes down, 105 to 103

Smart Banker goes from 101 to 110

(Remember, Rudra beat Smart Banker by 3l, giving 1kg in the Summer Cup, and Rudra beat Senor V. by 4l giving 2.5kg - now when next they meet Smart Banker must give Rudra 1kg and Senor Versace gets ½ kg from Rudra … meanwhile, Aluminium, the handicapper’s great line-horse, is still 103)

Rebel King goes 109 to 111
Third horse Renegade goes 96 to 107

Sweet Sanette goes 86 to 94

Spring Garland goes 89 to 99
Third horse Party Line goes 83 to 93

Magical goes 85 to 91

Opera Cloak goes 80 to 86
Mirabelle 80 to 84

THEY NEED TO SHOW US WHAT SYSTEM IS BEING USED. THIS LINE HORSE THING IS BULL. RUDRA IS A RACING CERTAINTY FOR THE BIG ONE ACCORDING TO RATINGS.

Handicapping will always be controversial; actually I agree with the ratings as shown above; the question is should Rudra also get a higher MR due to the performances of Smart Banker and Senor Versace - even though he hasn't run?

Should a horse's MR be adjusted ONLY after a run? Is there not a case to be made for for 'retrospective' MR adjustments?

Imo, using a 'line horse' is the best way to arrive at accurate ratings, but why is it not possible to use more than one 'line horse' - will this not lead to more accurate ratings?
