Have to agree with Striker, the ride of the month seems to be selected by how loud the commentator shouts rather than a jock actually making a difference.

I also have thought many nominations to be ordinary rides, and now that Strydom points it out it's really obvious.

I wonder who does the selection?

in the uk we have a ride of the week and 1/2 a dozen or so rides get put forward for a public phone vote,with prizes for one of the winning voters

One of the main qualifying criteria is that the nominated horses will all be Cape bred horses. Thus as ride of the month, it has no creditability.

Ride of the month on a Cape bred horse, yes that is what it should be called.
