YOU TAKE THE HIGH ROAD
Good afternoon to the Clan,
There have been plenty of top-class posts on the forum recently โ well done to everyone contributing.
My eye is much better, though I still have a face made for radio! The podcast will be back next week.
It's time for the world to decide whether weโre ready to take the high road and turn things around.
I can't help but touch on politics and the atrocities that continue across our troubled planet.
From Russia and Ukraine to the Gaza Strip, weโre witnessing humanity tearing itself apart.
Closer to home, the situation in South Africa remains dire. Crime and corruption are destroying our infrastructure, and the appalling crimes against women and children are beyond unacceptable.
The return of the death penalty is a conversation we cannot shy away from.
And then, of course, thereโs the EFFโs behaviour in Parliament โ a constant embarrassment that detracts from what could have been constructive dialogue following the State visit.
On a lighter note, letโs turn to what promises to be a fantastic racing weekend.
Racing in PE today looks promising for the favourites โ and fingers crossed for another win for Ziets and George.
Saturday at Scottsville brings us the big sprint meeting โ always a competitive day, and the exotic carryovers are certainly worth a punt.
With the scratching of Green Diamond, Direct Hit looks a strong banker, though Iโm told African Pride is a serious contender.
Looking ahead to the UK racing calendar,
On 6th June, weโve got the Oaks, where Desert Flower could well continue her winning streak.
The Derby on the 7th is likely O'Brienโs to lose โ let's see who Ryan Moore ends up riding.
Then itโs full steam ahead to Royal Ascot, from 17thโ21st June โ always a highlight of the flat racing season.
And finally, on a personal note, June will see our family gathering in Scotland for a wedding.
Some may take the high road, and others the low road โ but weโll all be there together.
Good punting, everyone. ๐
