Disappointing only 8 races are carded - and the 3rd has been cancelled (sigh) - different strokes for different okes on what will probably turn out to be soft ground - thoughts ....
R1: Exceedingly Glam proving costly to follow - but holds these on form and today gets a tongue-tie - the one to beat imo; the de Kock coupling have inside draws which probably will not be in their favor - so the danger to EG is Tipperary - good 2nd last time in soft ground
R2: Penaty kick
R4: Spumante Dolce good first win, but this is a handicap, so imo too short in the betting; Kudzu overdue and has acted in yielding conditions, so must have a chance from pole position; I do agree with DM that Eiffel Tower could upset, but his form has bee very moderate - however he has had 1 win and 2 2nds on soft ground - and gets a good draw; Mutarazi holds Just Var, but has poor form (especially the last run that was on soft ground); Safe Space has won in the soft, but along with Dark Silver have bad draws to contend with - so I'd side with Kudzu from Eiffel Tower
R5: I also agree with DM that Towers of Gold is way too short in the market and I make this an open race; Captainofthegreen will probably have the run of the race, but might just be wanting in the closing stages over 1800 on a soft track; main danger imo is the filly Forgiveness - has performed well in softer conditions and from pole position should be tracking the Captain and imo will run him down receiving 4,5 kgs; then we have Royal Edition who ran around 20 points above his rating last time, but one would think that he will set the pace and be run out of it again (especially as he has 2 unplaced runs in the soft); Imperial Master often thereabouts but another one that might prefer firmer ground; Jordan is dropping in the ratings but for me needs to show some improvement
R6: I do think that Green Sapphire has a good chance and has not found an overly strong field; I thnk the danger could be One Party if she acts in the going; Kings Again has more to do imo
R7: The race of the day; different opinions on whether Almond Sea would be as effective over to 1160 - I'm sitting on the fence as I would like to see her prove that she gets the trip; danger is Rodeo Drive, who imo needed her last start and should improve today (after all she has run only 0,3 lenghts behind Quid Pro Quo in the Alan Robertson); I'm not sure that Sorceress Supreme is in the class of the other two; Simpy Majestic could surprise (she beat Rodeo Drive on RD's debut over 800) but she does also seems better over 1000
R8: I do think Beamonesque will be hard to beat if he acts on the going - drawn on the stand side, has good form and has dropped an amazing 6 points in the ratings; Halcyon comes off a longish break, while Virgin River is drawn at 1
