Yip - competitve as per usual - thoughts ...
R1: Interesting new-comer in the form of Manikongo - I believe this son of the last American Triple Crown winner American Pharoah is out of a 1/2 sister to Igugu - imported from Aus - given his breeding should be more effective over more ground - but he has found solid market support - so on his class he could have a chance; Cliff Swallow is having his 12th try in the Maidens - should be thereabouts again with the lightly raced Master Bomber; this being an 'Open Maiden', Happy Wives is set to receive 8 kgs from the 3 mentioned, had Lerena up last time and had a good pinultimate and I think the value here at current odds of 18s.
R2: Victor Hugo probably worth another chance - stable in form and has Lerena up; should he fluff his lines, others like Bel Canto Dream, Grand Allegro and Honorine's Gimme (all trying 1400) could take advantage; best roughie imo Brigadier Billy who has his 2nd start, but may need another run over 1600 +
R3: Not an easy Maiden F&M over 1600 with a field of 15 after the scratching of Lana View; does not seem a lot between stable mates Sweet Conifer and Supreme Fate (both lighly raced) - but they were both beaten by Nemerosa (tries blinkers and ear muffs) over 1200; Spinmyangelspin split SF and Blind Ambition over 1400, while Give Me Everything is improving with racing; then we have the perennial place getter English Mistress; best roughie imo comes in the form of Cherry Sky who beat SC over 1400
R4: Another big Maiden field of 14 (Count William scratched); not a lot between Gran Canaria, Red Dawn, and Afrique, but the draws favor Gran Canaria this time; Tenpenny improving all the time and should give GC his biggest competition; roughie that could upset things is Set To Music (if he negates the wide draw) - did finish only a short-head behind subsequent Maiden winner Honor of Kings (who holds Ghurka and Umfuna by more than 5 lengths)
R5: Scraping the barrel here (with some Maidens thrown into the mix) in this 'Class 5' over 1400; first choice for me is Ischyro who get 8,5 kgs from recent winner What a Fortune and 7,5 kgs from Ozark, who is top of the boards; value here might be Golden Grey - still a Maiden but should hold Ozark and tries blinkers over 1400
R6: Another 'Class 5' for the females (although the mare Hang Out The Stars takes her chance in the 5th); scratchings of Becky Sharpe and Look Forward make it somewhat easier, but imo a lot of runners need to be considered; narrow first choice for me would be Why Not Jackie, who at least has a recent win over the track and trip; on a line through December Dawn, the Maiden 3 yr-old filly Timeline should have a chance, as well as Mrs Shackleton (a Maiden having her 19th start), but there are not a lot of runners that can be ruled out
R7: Another tough Handicap to decipher; I find it hard to split Back at the George, First Masterpiece (JP should have had the choice between FM and Love Story ?) and the 6-time winner She's My Captain; dark horses imo are Priscilla Maisey and Dame of Trix who comes off a break of almost 11 months; Sohot Sowhat improved a lot in her 2nd start and needs to confirm (was beaten more than 8 lenghts by BatG); then we have Bela Vista (who strangely tries 1200 again ?), Captain's Destiny and All is Green - not easy
R8: Looks a little easier; Furious Queen has her 6th start and should narrowly hold In the Green Zone on their last starts; battle-hardened Barney Mcgrew (897 days since his last win) probably next best, while the value is Across the Bow at 20s; best-weighted Peace of Mind imo needs to show more in this - her 2nd start in the Cape
R9: I think a pin is probably as good a chance at finding the winner here as studying form; it is a fixed-weight race (where females get a pull at the weights so 4 of the females are jointly 'best-weighted' - but over 1000 I think it does not matter that much; with little confidence, I think Electric Feels is probably the safest for the PAs, with Easy Money and Country Time probably the value
Enjoy

I can never fathom how Jock Zackey so often gets BEAT on the short price / odds on shots... so often,
yet brings HOME the 6/1, 8 / 1 and 10 / 1 shots regularly........... BUT I suppose this applies to ALL Jocks - but for him it's pretty REGULAR !!
The stats will bear this out.
