Hope everyone watches "the race that stops a nation" at 6am SA time. I'll be up at at 4am watching from London.

The Govnor Jeff Lloyd is riding 3rd favourite Nom De Jeu at 8-1. The Kiwi horse has a decent chance and Im tipping Septimus, Nom De Jeu and Littorio to fill the first 3 places.

Break a leg guys!

The coverage is top class on Attheraces, they have the Channel 7 feed from Oz. It looks like an absolutely spectacular day.

Big news on course is that 1 big aussie punter has just backed Nom De Jeu to win $2m aus. Thats what I call a punt!

Cummings "12" Melbourne Cups!

Melbourne: Melbourne Cup, 2m, turf, Group 1

TRAINER Bart Cummings landed his twelth Melbourne Cup as Viewed held-off a late charge by Luca Cumani's second-string Bauer in a thrilling finish to the Group 1 handicap.

The five-year-old was pushed to the head of affairs by jockey Blake Shinn as the field turned for home and although the winner began to tire the fast-finishing Bauer hit the line a whisker in arrears.

TRAINER Bart Cummings landed his twelfth Melbourne Cup as Viewed held-off a late charge by Luca Cumani's second-string Bauer in a thrilling finish to the Group 1 handicap at Flemington.

The five-year-old, who returned at 46.50 on the TAB, was pushed to the head of affairs by jockey Blake Shinn as the field turned for home and although the fast-finishing Bauer pushed him all the way, the photo revealed Viewed had clinch the race by a nose.

C'est La Guerre was two lengths back in third, with Master O'Reilly completing the placings in fourth.

Aidan O'Brien's trio Alessandro Volta, Septimus and Honolulu had guaranteed a strong pace by leading the field along for the majority of the race, but as they swung round the turn their challenge faded allowing Viewed to surge clear.

It looked at this point like Viewed had the race sewn up but Bauer under Cory Brown came out of the pack to set up a photo finish.

The judge delivered the verdict and Cumani, who's pre-race favourite Mad Rush managed only seventh, was left to suffer the agony of second for the second year in a row after Purple Moon filled the runner-up spot last year.

A clearly emotional Shinn said: "I'm going to cry. I'm speechless. It was alot of hard work along the way.

"It's important to get this horse into a good rhythm. I got there too early but when I pushed the button he showed a real turn of foot on this fast ground."

Cummings said: "It's just nice to win a race like this - it's a race everyone wants to win.

"I thought it was all over in the last 50 yards and then on the line I wasn't so sure."

to the stupid idiot catsmug, Jeff Lloyd is one of the greatest jockeys SA will ever see, He has ridden nearly 90 Group one races and over 4300 winners

As far as him riding in the Melbourne Cup goes, what an honour to even get a ride in a 22 horse field in the first year of living in a new country were the riding ranks are one of the best in the world.

Good luck to such a great sportsman, who is humble, loyal, and hard working, and you can ask anyone who has worked with him, they only have good things to say

Excuse me catsmug, but can you enlighten us exactly what you have achieved in your life??????
