# Hollywoodbets Greyville Turf Sunday 15th October 2023 – Comments by Andrew Harrison

RACE 1

4 BENNI IN THE AREA 2 MO KING 14 MAYOR OF MERRIVALE 1 GENERAL BYNG

Summary: Many first timers in the race so the betting should provide a guide as to their chances. Of those that have run, BENNI IN THE AREA (4) has run two promising recent races on the poly and shows good pace. Richard Fourie stays aboard Gary Rich’s gelding and should know what his mount is capable of. MO KING (2) made good improvement from a wide draw last time out. He stays the trip and must have a decent chance. MAYOR OF MERRIVALE (14) has a tricky draw to contend with but he has shown ability. Serino Moodley scored a well-earned double last Sunday and GENERAL BYNG (1) has the best of the draw and has shown some ability. (Andrew Harrison: 4-2-14-1).

RACE 2

4 FAIRY TRIPP 2 RANI OF JHANSI 6 PIECE BY PIECE 5 ALLEGRA ROSE

Summary: FAIRY TRIP (4) has improved with each outing and he looks primed for this event. He was narrowly beaten on the poly last time out but has a handy gate at four. RANI OF JHANSI (2) found some market support on debut in the soft at Scottsville. She looks sure to have benefitted from the experience. PIECE BY PIECE (6) has not been far back at recent outings and should benefit from the step up in trip. ALLEGRA ROSE (5) gets Richard Fourie aboard for Kom Naidoo who’s stable has turned the corner of late. She will need to have come on from her first two. (Andrew Harrison: 4-2-6-5).

RACE 3

8 BILLY OF TEA 11 RUN RIO RUN 5 FLAG MAN 12 MAGIC PRINCE

Summary: BILLY OF TEA (8 ) has been knocking at the door having placed in five of his six starts for Mike Miller. The drop in trip could suit although he does have a tricky draw. RUN RIO RUN (11) has drawn even wider but has made steady improvement in each start for Stuart Ferrie. The step up in trip should suit. MAGIC PRINCE (12) has improved in blinkers but has had no luck with the draws and has pulled another wide gate. The step up in trip should suit. FLAG MAN (5) caught the eye when just out of the money on debut. Garth Puller has stepped him up to a mile and has engaged Richard Fourie. (Andrew Harrison: 8-11-5-12).

RACE 4

1 ASIYE PHAMBILI 2 KAILENE 9 LUCKY MISS 10 ALPHABETTY

Summary: Interesting handicap. Duncan Howells holds a strong hand with ASIYE PHAMBILI (1) and LUCKY MISS (9). The former got a hefty seven-point shunt up the handicap for her last win. However, she won with something in hand and could be good enough to go in again even though she is 2.5kg worse off with ALPHABETTY (10) who has finish behind her at her last two starts but did get a lot closer last time out. However, she has drawn widest in the ten-runner field. Lucky Miss finally had her consistency rewarded with a narrow last win beating KAILENE (2) who is now 1.5kg better off in the handicap. (Andrew Harrison: 1-2-9-10).

RACE 5

1 LAST GINGER 3 WESTOCKMARKETBORSE 4 MYSTIQUE ROUGE 6 STYLE ICON

Summary: Tricky maiden. LAST GINGER (1) has improved with each outing and can show further improvement for Weiho Marwing as she steps up in trip. Kabelo Matsunyane has jumped ship to partner Last Ginger ahead of WESTOCKMARKETBORSE (3) who was touched off over course and distance last time out. The filly with the short tail improved back in blinkers and a repeat should see her close again. MYSTIQUE ROUGE (4) has been much improved with a tongue-tie and was touched off on the poly last run. She is lightly raced and must have a decent chance. STYLE ICON (6) is lightly raced and also steps up in trip. The switch back to turf could be in his favour. (Andrew Harrison: 1-3-4-6).

RACE 6

4 CAPE EAGLE 2 ROYAL VICTORY 8 PIRATE PRINCE 1 ADDABAR

Summary: CAPE EAGLE (4) makes his seasonal debut after contesting feature races during Champions Season. Assistant trainer Byron Forster is confident of a decent showing and at best he will go close. ROYAL VICTORY (2) appears to have lost his way a little and has come down in the ratings. Nathan Kotzen has removed the blinkers and with Calvin Habib retaining the ride he could get back to winning ways. ADDABAR (1) is well thought of by MJ Odendaal and he won well on this course last time out. He got a full eight-point raise in the handicap but only has 52.5kg to shoulder from the best of the draw. PIRATE PRINCE (8 ) makes it into the race with bottom weight and is now 3kg better off with Addabar on their last meeting. SUN BLUSHED (10) jumps in distance but was not far behind from a tough draw last time out and this trip may now suit. (Andrew Harrison: 4-2-8-1).

RACE 7

12 QHAWE LAMI 9 WARRIOR OF ROYALTY 10 FAUSTINO 11 QUANDRY

Summary: Open handicap but the three-year-olds QHAWE LAMI (12) and WARRIOR OF ROYLATY (9) could hold the key. Both have shown promise and although taking on seasoned older sprinters the pair look to have a touch of class. Against them is that they have both draw wide, Clinton Binda’s runner the widest at 12. However, he has only once been out of the money in nine starts and was a comfortable winner on the Turffontein inner last run. WARRIOR OF ROYALTY (9) has not been out since down the field behind Lucky Lad in the Gr1 Gold Medallion but prior to that was a five-length winner of his maiden. The rest and the draw are of concern but he does look promising. Of the older runners, QUANDRY (11) has won his last two with pacifiers while FAUSTINO (10) takes a big drop in class and with a 4kg claimer up he could surprise. (Andrew Harrison: 12-9-10-11).

RACE 8

1 ASPOESTERTJIE 8 CHELSEA FLOWER 12 FLYING THE STAR 2 FRENCH PRINCESS

Summary: Carl Hewitson has two strong chances in ASPOESTERTJIE and CHELSEA FLOWER (8 ). The former was a length back to the latter, both behind surprise winner Mel’s Princess. Aspoestertjie is now 3kg better of for a length beating courtesy of apprentice James Lihaba’s 4kg claim and with the best of the draw should be capable of turning the tables. FLYING THE STAR (12) has a wide draw but has been consistent of late. She has a handy weight and with some luck in running can go close. FRENCH PRINCESS (2) drops in trip with first time blinkers and can run into the money. (Andrew Harrison: 1-8-12-2).
