Racing scheduled for Sunday 23 April 2023 at Kenilworth had been postponed to Monday 24 April 2023, weather dependent.
There is more forecast and a further track inspection will be conducted tomorrow morning.

Cape Racing Postpones Sunday's Racing at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth Due to Weather 

 

 

Cape Town, South Africa - April 23, 2023 – Cape Racing has announced the postponement of Sunday's scheduled racing at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth due to inclement weather. The racecourse has received approximately 40mm of rain in the last 24 hours, and areas of the track are waterlogged, making it unsuitable for racing. 

 

With more rain forecasted, Cape Racing has decided to reschedule the race meeting to Monday 24 April 2023. A further track inspection will be conducted tomorrow morning to determine the feasibility of racing on Monday. 

 

"We regret to inform our patrons that we have had to postpone the racing scheduled for Sunday," said Justin Vermaak, Cape Racing: Executive Racing and Bloodstock. "The safety of our horses and jockeys is of utmost importance, and we cannot compromise on that. We understand that this decision will be disappointing for many of our patrons, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused. We hope to see everyone on Monday for a great day of racing." 

 

Cape Racing assures the public that they are doing everything possible to ensure the safety of the horses and jockeys, as well as to provide an excellent racing experience for all patrons of Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. Updates regarding Monday's racing schedule will be communicated through the official website and social media channels.

Please note; following a further 40mm of rain since Sunday morning's postponement bringing the total rainfall in the last 7 days; a decision has been made to cancel the race meeting scheduled for Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Monday, 24 April 2023, in the interests of safety.
A date for a replacement meeting will be disseminated ASAP.
