VALENTINES GIFT.......CHELTENHAM π
2 years 3 months ago - 2 years 3 months ago
Hi all and I am sure you are all thinking what would be a lovely valentine's gift ?
Not sure if you are romantic or a punter, but wouldn't it be nice to take your loved one on a trip to Cheltenham?
It's the 14th of Feb and the 14th of March is technically a month away apart from February being a short month .
I have just watched my NAP of the day winning at Wolves at a great price WAR IN HEAVEN which can also be a valentines long term omenπ’
I have been looking for an opportunity to start my Cheltenham thread, so here it goes:
Sorry for any spelling mistakes but I am drinking Monkey Shoulder as JWB is finished.
Here are my early CHELTENHAM thoughts and they will be updated over the next four weeks.
MARCH
14th
Sky Bet Supreme Novices' Hurdle (Grade 1) (GBB Race) Cl1 (4yo+) 2m87y
This is a great start to the festival as we should have a Hollywood runner II ETAIT TEMPS after it beat FACILE VEGA easily last time out but Mullins still thinks that VEGA is the better horse and the betting is currently 5/1 the field and should be a cracker.
14th
Sporting Life Arkle Challenge Trophy Novices' Chase (Grade 1) (GBB Race) Cl1 (5yo+) 1m7f199y
JONBON was hot fav but did not impress last week and EL FABIOLO has gone fav
14th
Unibet Champion Hurdle Challenge Trophy (Grade 1) (GBB Race) Cl1 (4yo+) 2m87y
This is one of the big races and CONSTITUTION HILL at 9/20 still looks the real deal but STATE MAN has been very impressive and this should be a classic.
14th
Close Brothers Mares' lHurdle (Registered as The David Nicholson Mares' Hurdle) (Grade 1) (GBB Race) Cl1 (4yo+) 2m3f200y
HONEYSUCKLE would have ran against CONSTITUTION HILL and STATE MAN .
However she has taken the easier option and is worth a punt at 3/1 for the Champ to retire on a winning note but EPATANTE should give a bold show
14th
National Hunt Challenge Cup Amateur Jockeys' Novices' Chase (Grade 2) (GBB Race) Cl1 (5yo+) 3m5f201y
GALLIARD DU MESNIL should be fav.
Day 2
15th
Ballymore Novices' Hurdle (Grade 1) (Registered as The Baring Bingham) (GBB Race) Cl1 (4yo+) 2m5f
Very open and more to follow
15th
Brown Advisory Novices' Chase (Grade 1) (Broadway Novices' Chase) (GBB Race) Cl1 (5yo+) 3m80y
Another open event and more to follow
15th
Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase (Grade 1) (GBB Race) Cl1 (5yo+) 1m7f199y
Should be between ENERGUMENE and EDWARDSTONE.
15th
Glenfarclas Chase (Cross Country Chase) (Gbb Race) Cl2 (5yo+) 3m6f37y
DELTA WORK is a good bet
15th
Weatherbys Champion Bumper (AStandard Open NH Flat Race) (Grade 1) (GBB Race) Cl1 (4-6yo) 2m87y
Bumper always open but Mullins will hold the key ITS FOR ME could be the one
Day 3
16th
Turners Novices' Chase (Grade 1) (Registered as The Golden Miller) (GBB Race) Cl1 (5yo+) 2m3f168y
MIGHTY POTTER looks the best
16th
Ryanair Chase (Registered as The Festival Trophy) (Grade 1) (GBB Race) Cl1 (5yo+) 2m4f127y
It's now very open after injury to hot fav.
16th
Paddy Power Stayers' Hurdle (Grade 1) (GBB Race) Cl1 (4yo+) 2m7f213y
This is a very open race as the new kids are beating the old school
16th
Ryanair Mares' Novices' Hurdle (Class 1) (Grade 2 ) (GBB Race) Cl1 (4yo+) 2m179y
Also a bit early to call
Day 4
17th
JCB Triumph Hurdle (Grade 1) (GBB Race) Cl1 (4yo) 2m179y
LOSSIEMOUTH disappointed last but can beat BLOOD DESTINY
17th
Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle (Grade 1) (Registered as The Spa Novices' Hurdle) (GBB Race) Cl1 (5yo+) 2m7f213y
Very open more to follow
17th
Boodles Cheltenham Gold Cup Chase (Grade 1) (GBB Race) Cl1 (5yo+) 3m2f70y
I have no doubt that GALOPIN DES CHAMPS will win the Cup and take 2/1 .
17th
St. James's Place Festival Challenge Cup Open Hunters' Chase Cl2 (5yo+) 3m2f70y
Open event more to follow
17th
Mrs Paddy Power Mares' Chase (Grade 2) (GBB Race) Cl1 (5yo+) 2m4f127y
More to follow but IMPERVIOUS could be the one .
Early STRONG fancies
CONSTITUTION HILL
HONEYSUCKLE
DELTA WORK
MIGHTY POTTER
GALOPIN DES CHAMPS
Good Punting π

Good morning all and Mrs S obviously does not read the forum πͺ
In fact even the normal JWB was substituted by Red HEART Rum, well I guess it's the thought that counts.
From myside I went for the Estee Lauder cream to make you look younger each year at Cheltenham.
Never mind look forward to 2024

On the subject of Cheltenham
SHISHKIN runs at Ascot today and if back to his best will go for the Ryanair on Thursday 16th.
His current odds are 11/2 and will drop if impressive today.

Only 7 days to go and have a feeling that a couple of romantics from Hollywood will certainly be there on day one.
Still await final fields but not much has changed.
Supreme Novice where plenty money for Facile Vega where a different ride has been promised.
Arkle looks a match Jonbon and El Fabiolo but Dysart Dynamo can run a bit .
Ultima is a cavalry charge and expect big price winner.
Champion Hurdle can State Man give Constitution Hill a race?
Mares where we all hoping to say goodbye to Honeysuckle on a winning note.
Boodies another very open race with plenty for exotics.
National Hunt and Galliard Du Mesnil the one to beat
More to follow
