2023 Metropolitan 28th January 2023
2 years 5 months ago
I have narrowed my selections down to
JetDark
Kommet
and then
Sparkling Water??
Make it Snappy
Universal. I liked his run yesterday
Rascallion
notes:
Al Muthana over 2000?
Cousin Casey?? very quiet
Linebacker and Golden Ducat 5 lengths back on the top 2.
The rest not for me

It's going to be another interesting meeting and looks a bit complicated at the moment depending where certain horse run?
If you have inside info the ante post markets could be of interest.
Met
Jet Dark, Komm, make it Snappy?
Cape Flying Princess Calla
Majorca ?? RANSOM.....CALLA ....SNAPPY....DESERT .....MARINA
Interesting couple of weeks to the 28th ...

.....my long shot fancy has shortened after his improved run this weekend and is a bit skinny in the AP market and he may have done too much if this was a prep.....so I will wait for race day for a drift before having a dip....

Let's see if lightning can strike twice - both for the horse and for me to select the Kings Plate and MET double - I think that Kommetdieding will do the double - I think he is best over this trip and should beat JD again as he did last year - can't really find any value looking at current odds - maybe Rascallion but imo one should not accept less than double-figure odds - especially at A/P prices
Marina - very disappointing on Saturday
Universal - maybe not the best ride, but can't see him beating JD or Kommet at these weights
Sparkling Water - won the July when receiving lumps of weight from the competition, so not for me at these weights
Make It Snappy - can't see her making all - did beat the Captain fair and square, but needs to step up another notch here imo (if she runs)
Cousin Casey - beaten all ends up by CD - and imo should be held by both JD and Kommet ....
What else - really think it will be fought out by JD and Kommet again

@Frodo
If the 3yo's run, they could be real dangers.
Cousin Casey is from the family of Big City Life and should appreciate the extra. It had a wide draw in the Guineas and that was its second run of the season. It could go close.
Make It Snappy, granddam is Icy Air, who is a Grade 1 winner (Fillies Classic), won two Oaks and interestingly ran second in the Met. It will definitely get the trip, in my opinion. She ran almost a full second faster than Rascallion, 112.07 verse 113.02. Accordingly to an esteemed analyst/statistician her last 600m was faster than the Premier Trophy. It means she galloped relentlessly to the line. With 51.5kgs on her back, she can dictate matters on her own. 14/1 is very tempting.

Re: 2023 Metropolitan 28th January 2023
2 years 4 months ago - 2 years 4 months ago.....no but finishing faster and hampered in his drive to the wire.....the once highly rated Warrior (talk and not MR) ran out of his skin on Saturday and not sure if he got some points there.... now older seems to have a better finish but may have peaked on that run.....would think that he may be suspect over a trip but even milers have upset in the Met.....was hoping for a bigger price and double his current AP odds..........my long shot fancy has shortened after his improved run this weekend and is a bit skinny in the AP market and he may have done too much if this was a prep.....so I will wait for race day for a drift before having a dip....

I could be wrong of course , but Make it Snappy not for me - and where do you find 14s (8/1 on WSB) - because at that price she could be worth a few bob for places - to say that she ran a faster time than Rascallion is also neither here nor there imo - surely JD and Kommet are 5 lengths superior to Rascallion - but as I say I have been wrong a few times in the past

Hey Frodo, I have also been wrong in the past - more than just a few times - but for me Kommetdieding and Jet Dark of the older horses and Cousin Casey (if he runs) to fly the flag for the 3yo's. I would expect no massive upset of any kind in the WSB Met!
