That has to be a false start.
Lerena thought it was, s/h at the end.

It's all very well saying that Lucy In The Sky is a runner, because she didn't gain a material advantage and is therefore there isn't a scratching.
The real problem is the other jocks are expecting a false start to be called and yet it isn't. I had no vested interest in this race, but to me the starter erred and the race should be declared null and void.
What would have happened if one of the 20-1 shots had beaten the Fav a s/h? Everyone would be bitching and moaning again.

Having watched the replay posted by Dave, whilst I hear what you say, I think the Stipes got it correct. I did not see any hesitation from any of the other runners, because they did not even realise that LITS was slowly away. Bad luck...yes, I agree. They should have let the horse settle better. but that is hindsight. Finished like a train, so there was some money down, but possibly gives the game away...IDK just my opinion

Or possibly the jock wanted to cover his poor start...

As an aside, How did Gobsmacked win that race? Looks clear Full Velocity won on that video? Was there an objection?

On the false start, that is most certainly, 100%, not a false start. The gates opened almost immediately after the gate of LITS opened, and if the jockey thought that was a false start and didn't ride properly then he is clueless, but I doubt that was the case.

Depends where you have the finish line...As a Durban boy...Gold Circle would post the photo-finish to prevent this very same nonsense...

Okay but that is not where the finish line is according to the winning post?

With hindsight, you are correct Thor. I posted this as they went past the post. Watching again, I think I was wrong in my assumption.
