They are covering Bendigo but you CANNOT take trifectas, swingers, etc at this venue. Only at Young where the field sizes are far smaller.

As per my initial post.

Who is in charge of them choosing the venues be it in the morning, afternoon or evening for exotics. By exotics, means swingers, trifecta, quartets, etc.

Tomorrow Tuesday they covering Young, the last four races. Average field size, 8 with a maximum of 9 runners with a total of 32 runners.

Then you have Bendigo, with bigger fields, 11, 12, 13 runners which they can start offering the exotics from 11h00 until the last race if they wish.

Its not the coverage/broadcast. Its about offering, swingers, trifecta, etc at a venue where the field sizes are much larger which means better pools.

Hi Bob

There was a rare situation on Tuesday 19 July in that the Jackpot races on Bendigo and Young both fitted neatly with the SA meeting, given that we normally battle to find one Australian meeting with races that dovetail as required by TV schedules with SA races. In pre-COVID era SA pools would have been offered on Jackpot races at both Bendigo and Young. Post COVID, there is simply insufficient liquidity to do that, so we limit SA pools to maximum one Australian meeting daily in an attempt to accomplish reasonable liquidity by not diluting available spend. In case of Bendigo versus Young, Bendigo had better fields but Leg 1 Jackpot @ 11:00, whereas Young Jackpot Leg 1 later @ 11:40, when bigger footfall in TABs and therefore greater liquidity. For the record we generally aim to avoid international races with SA pools in the lead-up to the start of the PA, Pick 6 etc on the SA meeting in order to concentrate the focus/spend on the local meeting. So yes common cause that bigger fields (within limits) are better for tote betting, but timeframe/likely audience a critical factor.

Agreed on liquidity. Unfortunately we no longer have the morning liquidity of three years ago, where local pools were offered on 3 harness venues a day each day, with races every 10 mins, and Shaheen boosting the pools.

Thanks Bob and to them for the response.

The Jackpot they talking about is the commingling Jackpot. So what they implying that the commingling Jackpots will take in more than our local pools like swingers, trifectas, etc.

Another point is that you get big harness venues where the pools are bigger and smaller ones in Australia. Shepperton for example has big pools always in Australia.

For comparison today

Bendigo Jackpot reached = 306k
Young Jackpot reached = 36k

Almost 10 times more. Whose fooling who.

Last week they had flat racing in Ireland which they covered in the Quick Mix but chosed to offer Jackpots at the UK jumps meeting. Yesterday and today due to the heatwave they covering Ireland with all bet types although todays meeting is a jump meeting. Mind you the fields are larger compared to UK jumps.

Now that Hong Kong is over, I suggest on weekends an Australian meeting to be covered cause the Mauritius fields are small due to their recent internal problems.

Need a response.

According to the Free Tab sheets online, Bathurst was supposed to be covered with trifecta, swingers, etc this morning from races 5 to 8. Did they have a clairvoyant to tell them that there will be no foot traffic this morning because for some unknown reason these bet types are not available.

Is it sheer incompetence, oversight or what on their side.

Then we have Saratoga later tonight but we only taking in Parx. Fair enough there is UK racing in the evening but surely they could have added Saratoga after 21h00 like Parx.

Note that I am not a fan of harness racing but you need your punters to invest and reinvest for their take outs.

So while typing the above for Bathurst, inexplicably races 6, 7 and 8 became available. The tabgold portal however does not.

So someone never load the bet types earlier. The mind boggles.
