Jimmy not picking on you when I say this... But you can't expect punters to all follow the tote when Owners and Trainers use the Open Bet and even send money out of the country
Pay the bookies properly to be agents, a deal was nearly done before. Unfortunately, the racing punter base is dwindling and is a bigger issue than the OPEN BET imo.

75k Bi Pot Greyville night meeting 7 Feb 2025
121k PA .
we can soon start anticipating sub 100k Place accumulators.
If i was Chief in charge i would be putting out the fire sale signs.

It's actually unbelievable the state of our tote.
A fool proof scheme where you have no risks no matter what wins and they can't make it work.
No coming up with new bets, sorry they had the card draw which made them a few hundred rands a day,to get people interested.
They have been going downhill for years now and they do nothing about it.
Absolutely useless the guys in charge but nothing changes so I couldn't care less if the tote ceases to exist.

If the tote ceases, where then will the bookies get the payouts from?

Either make their own pools individually per bookmakers firm or co-mingle with all bookmakers who want to participate.
In this tech savvy age it shouldn't be difficult and the pools will be probably 10 times bigger than what they are with our piss poor tote.

In the days of telly track years ago they had a soccer "expert" tip for the soccer bets and I would actually play them then. They even came up with a soccer gg which was the last race of the day and 5 soccer games I thought it was an excellent idea but they canned it I assume due to no support. The last new bet I can recall was the bipot and the quick mixes don't even get me started on the numbers and card bets. I saw a pool of 60k how many people select the same number you playing to win R6 not very exciting. 15 years ago we had huge pools these days presenters say wow when we get a pathetic pool

Hi All
The decline in " Tote" turnovers has been a topic of discussion for many years.
What amazes me is that Trainers & Owners that constantly complain about Stakes not being in line with the cost of owning a horse and training fees etc, actually play their exotic bets with fixed odds operators. 🤷♂️
The pools you see on TV or TAB pools and we all go " did you see the kak pools " but you and your owner and friends that are complaining are playing your Bipot, PA, P6 and JPots with fixed odds operators!!!
I have accounts with all of the fixed odds operators, bet mostly with the one I find most user friendly.
Doubles, Trebles, Yankees , what a pleasure, I shop around and believe me there are massive differences, and as a punter would do I love doubles and trebles.
TAB gets all my pool bet contributions, why ?
I love the game , I want the game to survive and they will only survive with growth in pools.
Yes, service etc. comes into play, but the majority of us play online and we seldom have any issues with TAB. If there is an issue it is dealt with promptly.
I saw a punter at Fairview play a R11 000 p6 on a big race day at Fairview, with a fixed odds operator, work it out , if we all just make a determined effort and give it a full go for three months, you will be amazed.
I agree and have said it on TV we need to get into bed with our bookie operators and contribute to our pools, give a % ( 50)% of your " TOTE" bets to our pools and we will be flourishing.
Trainers need to convince owners and vice versa, support racing , see it grow , bigger stakes , then play those bets with TAB.
Millions will still be bet with bookies for wins, doubles, and All To Comes.
We keep moaning but are we supporting the life blood of racing ?
This is my take on the subject and does not reflect the opinion of anyone else .
Regards
Neil P.

How long has the tote been pleading this?
Years and years now.Even had trainers coming on the racing channel saying they play on the tote and the pools just keep on declining.Punters are obviously not listening.
They got to do something more, offer incentives, give rewards,do something instead of just talking the same stuff that if we play on the tote it supports our racing.
As can be seen no one cares.

Whilst I absolutely agree my main issue is that in December I deposited into my tab account because the daily competition peaked my interest. One day racing was abandoned more than halfway through and the terms state that if you haven't played the R100 before racing is abandoned and it is more than halfway through the meeting the turnover clause would not apply and I came 3rd. Customer service said I didn't qualify and after referring them to the ts and cs they said that's what it says but not how it works. I argued and a manager finally organized that I get paid for 3rd place. The Clause remains as is on the site and when I called again for clarification no one at customer service knows how it works. Unfortunately it's not enough to say play on the tote it keeps the game alive when we know Hollywood will plug the holes. It's much easier for a customer to play where he feels welcome. Nothing beats wsb customer service withdrawals and promotions for me

Horse racing is captured Sylvester ,think playing the soccer bets is worth a go now ,pools are much bigger and it's a. 3 horse race 😂.
I like these sayings :
1. Fish rots from the head .
2. There is nothing worse than a dead rat on a sinking ship .
And to 4 racing and Good Circle I dedicate the poem city Johannesburg to you as like the poem punters will now move on then racing will be for breeders, jockeys and trainers ,no more punters .
