URGENT COVID-19 UPDATE
The National Horseracing Authority confirms that it is aware of an outbreak of Covid-19 cases in persons, including a number of Riders, that work in the industry at Fairview Racecourse in the Eastern Cape.
Due to the significant number of confirmed cases as well as the range of licensees that are affected, urgent intervention is necessary to curtail the spread of the virus into other Horseracing centres , which could have devastating consequences on a national basis.
With immediate effect, there shall be NO travel for Riders into the province of Eastern Cape until further notice. For travel into other centres, the previous condition of Jockeys producing a Negative SARS-coV-2 (COVID-19) PCR test which is dated within 2 days of the person arriving in that district, will now be re-instated for the meetings commencing Wednesday, 25 August 2021 onwards. This directive also applies to all NHA Officials that are travelling to other districts.
The Fairview race meeting on 27 August 2021 will be restricted to local riders that are currently based in Gqeberha.
The daily cases of this very sensitive Delta variant are still on the high side. The National Horseracing Authority urges all stakeholders to continue to practice the non-pharmaceutical measures of social distancing, frequent washing of hands and the mandatory wearing of clean masks be strictly adhered to.
This urgent intervention is necessary to ensure the continuation of racing nationally and thereby ensuring the sustainability that is much desired in the current economic climate.

PHUMELELA MEDIA RELEASE
SUBJECT: Greyville to replace Fairview 27 August race meeting
DATE: Monday 23 August 2021
RELEASED BY: Phumelela Gaming
The race meeting scheduled to be staged at Fairview on Friday 27 August has been cancelled and will be replaced by a meeting at Greyville.
The Fairview meeting was called off owing to a lack of available jockeys. A number of confirmed Covid-19 cases has forced the National Horseracing Authority (NHA) to restrict the movement of jockeys into the province and ensure that people who came into contact with those who tested positive are placed in isolation.
As a result, there are insufficient local jockeys to host a meeting.
At this stage, the race meeting at Fairview on 3 September will go ahead as scheduled.
Gold Circle have agreed to put on a meeting at Greyville on the Polytrack to replace the lost Fairview race meeting.

Would certainly help Peter
Our unemployment is over 34% and much of this is due to us being in the red zone and tourism suffering.
We need visitors desperately with money to inject into SA but we continue to project a horrible image .

A simple principle - but so difficult to achieve - imo the inexplicable hesitancy to consider any other treatment (i.e. Ivermectin) is not doing anyone any favours

Had Covid Jan 2020 had both my vacs (yesterday completed) - Did not grow an extra ear or receive a voice note from Bill Gates though I wished rumours of extra inches below deck were true but did not happen!!
- Was surprised to see so many under 25's getting vaccinated yesterday with very few over 50's - I cannot understand the reluctance of the vulnerable groups - My 80 yr old dad has done his but my father in law who has diabetes will not go - Please just try to get it done so that the country can try to recover
