bookies and their deductions
4 years 3 months ago
race 2 today at Fairview there was a late scratching - according to both Gallop and Tabgold the SP was 33/1 at time of scratching
I backed the winner with 4 different bookies
2 made no deduction - as it should be
one made a 5% deduction and the last one a 10% deduction
who says bookies are honest?
do business with the last 2 crooks at your peril!!

You would have to find out what price the scratched horse was when you placed your bet.

In my lifetime I have heard or known of 4 or 5 bookies going bankrupt. On the other hand I have known or heard of 10 million punters losing everything to bookies.

@ Bob
the price of the scratched horse at the time I took the bet on the winning horse has nothing to do with it
the deduction table is worked out on the price of the scratched horse at the time of withdrawal

Contrary to believe swearing Is actually a sign of more intelligence - this one, however, is the exception that proves the rule

I'm with fingers on this one, the deduction percentage should be based on the price at the time of deduction. As an aside, another "move" pulled by bookies is shortening a horse when there is a strong possibility that it will be scratched.
