MDK calls out Snaith

"He can't hide away forever. Sooner or later he's going to have to come out and play with the big boys on their playground." The words are Mike de Kock’s in reaction to Justin Snaith's comment in the Sporting Post that "Malmoos was lucky to win in the Cape".

"At least I try and get lucky. Don't see him (Snaith) having the balls to get lucky in Joburg," added De Kock—understandably taken aback by the Cape trainer's view of Malmoos who posted the fifth win of his career when successful in the Gauteng Guineas.

Clickbait.

Turftalk has gone backwards spectacularly since Charl left.

de Kock is correct that chicken is Snaith, so too every other lazy trainer.
(The late Flash Harry said that the reason why coastal trainers do not raid is because they are lazy).

Snaith has raided and even stabled horses here but if I remember a big horse of his was injured here a few years ago - Why should he risk his horses when he can stable in Kzn and win the big ones in their season - When last has De Kock won the July (Igugu 2011) Snaith last 3

Dancer’s Daughter?
My point of view - All trainers must act in the best interests of their owners by raiding the county’s richest races. Trainers should not act in the sole interest of pursuing their own selfish objectives.

Acclimatisation to the altitude is the real issue. On a different thread, i asked the question, name one Cape based horse that went up to Johannesburg, and had a successful career after returning. It does not make sense to risk a horse's future travelling to Jhb, The KZN Winter season is neutral and fair to compete against each other. I think they both good trainers.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Remember that the 2 of them are big mates and always chirping each other. Hard to raid Highveld from Cape Town without sending the horses up a long time before to acclimatize.

At least they have had a couple of hundred views in the last couple of hours.

I actually thought charl had closed site.
Who owns it now?

There’s no mates in racing

Hawaii is the only horse who has won three Guineas. Cape Town, then Joburg, then Durban. US grass horse of the year. Sired 1st, 2nd 3rd in the Epsom Derby. That is successful.
(Waiting for chirps abt Tvl Azzie trained :-) )
We don’t get those anymore because they don’t do it anymore.

In the fall now, the Highveld tracks get very dry and hard as we get closer to Winter.
Doubt the Cape trainers experience these conditions?
Though it must be said that those trainers like Snaith who have the luxury of walking their horses in the icy cold waters at Bloubergstrand reap the benefits of that cold water " therapy"'
The late great Terence Millard had his own stretch of sand track at Blouberg and the results speak for themselves.
I think historically he could be the most successful Cape trainer to raid the Highveld.

If you are too scared to come race on the highveld with your top stable thoroughbreds then at least nominate some lower ranked horses that you think might perform better on this highveld turf than they currently do at the coast.

Pack Leader not performing badly at all since being up here.

But to stay away completely is a crying shame, I thought we were all trying to get this industry back to a certain level where it was with the best competing with the best in each others back yard.

Not going to do this with the "Beach Boys" mindset.
