Durbanville, 13/10

Race (1)

The Corporal, head-gear added, much better draw than last three runs – runner. Happy Chappy, quartet type horse. Global Spectrum, betting would be the best guide as to it’s chances. Ottoman Empire, same comment as above. Shangaan, probably priced up favourite, not well drawn and second run after the rest could count against. Worth taking on.

Race (2)

Autumn Sky, appeared unlucky last time out from the widest draw. Has improved with every run, and a repeat of it’s last performance over the course and distance, could see her in the winner’s enclosure. The victor last time out, Capitana, ran a very creditable 2nd in a Plated race next time out – Autumn Sky is a massive runner despite the draw. Gertrude Bell, ran in the same race as Autumn Sky, finished ahead of Autumn Sky from a more favourable draw. This time draws are reversed, and I expect Autumn Sky to reverse the placing as well. The dark horse may be Magnetic Dime from draw one, but she may appreciate further.

Race (3)

Nightmare of a race, the older horses are well-tried or draw wide, the three year olds are clearly out at the wfa scale. Of the 4 year olds, Enchanted Creek, looks the one that will go closest, even from the draw. But far from a strong selection. Thecrazycatlady from draw 1 and with the claiming apprentice would probably have to commit to use the allowance to an advantage. Of the three year olds, Do Angels Cry looks to be improving with every run, should appreciate the extra furlong, and from a decent draw could get away at the right time. Make her the one they all have to beat. Katie To, is the obvious danger to my selection despite the draw, was drawn wider last time out and stayed on well, the extra furlong should also suit. Regina Isabella, her chances cannot be discounted, I still haven’t worked when Fourie is on the “right one” or not, when it comes to the Snaith yard, as of late. Sods Law, the day I choose to go against Fourie, he’d probably walk in by many. Nothing wrong with what the stable is doing, trying to get the better jockeys on their horses to give them the best possible chance of winning – just very difficult when having an on the head punt though.

So, that’s my yankee :-

The Corporal X Autumn Sky X Do Angels Cry
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

I usually back unraced runners when they come up against others who have had a few runs and have shown nothing so Golden Spectrum in the first race for me today

Race 4 - Casanova King fair debut when racing wide and not overly pressed in the straight. Should have nice improvement and might place at big price. Meets a decent field.

So many maiden races

Race 6: Hard to chose between Seventh Gear (106) and Hurricane Harry (107).

Race 7: Capitana (108) will be very hard to beat!

Race 8: Jean's Man (102) should finish on top of them but Regimental (98) and Fateful (97), despite their bad draws, are serious runners.

That's my R6 pick 3. Break a leg.
