Sadly, it is very tough for black jockeys to make it to the top in this game. Besides Smanga and Muzi, the rest are just making up the numbers. Even those two could have been overseas by now. In fact, a black trainer has a zero chance in SA racing.

Completely disagree.

See no reason why any jockey is disadvantaged. They are competing on level playing fields.

Huge talented black youngsters making it through the ranks.

Please stop this black and white shit.

Numbers don't lie. Sly what are the numbers telling us? Is the playing field level?

Manwatweet, how many stables have or ever had a black Jockey as their stable Jock? Now collate that with the opposite and let me know; facts only please.

You either a good jockey (gifted) or a mediocre jock or a bad jock... Talent is colour blind.

Plain straight answer for matsunyane.
Inexperience and not for riding, for being in the “GAME”.
TOOO MANY FRIENDS!
Thinks can win every race on a card.
Used to get good chances from tarry, but then tips 6 horses per meeting to 20-30 friends.trainers hear things, then u get to ride the budweiser boys of the yard
Anyways thats my 5 cents.
Hope he wakes up,he can ride.

If you put in the work in the mornings you can get the rides it's not a matter of your skin color for many years kumalo was stable jockey to Tarry there are many jockeys today example strydom or Marcus are not even attached to any stable and free lance.
In Cape town Robert khathi rides for Snaith sandile mbhele rides for marshall in Pe Charles ndlovu rides for greef they all ride their fair share of winners.
Its matter of confidence all riders have bad streaks and then get on the trail again but I would like to add recently even good seasoned jockeys have been riding really bad races gone are the days where it was dead certain a horse would win or run in the first 3 races todays results are muddled doesn't only happen here look example newmarket yesterday odds on favourites 5 horse fields run last???
Rather just close our eyes and pick blindly
