Rasheeda and Shaheen Shaw`s Feeding initiative
4 years 9 months ago
I know some of you guys have been supporting Chainsaw and Rasheeda in their Charity work, sending cash and food vouchers, supplies etc..
But for the Clanners who don`t follow Shaheen on Social Media it would be great if you can take a few moments to check out his Facebook page www.facebook.com/shane.shaw.7
Below is one such posts i`m sure he won`t mind us sharing
Good evening sunshines,
This morning, the ladies, started rattling off a list of items that needed to be purchased, "Bananas, maize meal, rice, bread, spices...". When I heard "spices", I said - "Sorry, I can't hear you, you're breaking up..." There are some supplies that, although necessities, I find buying an exercise in frivolity. Honestly, who enjoys going out and buying leaf masala, 11 in 1, and "Durbs" masala? Then, they had the audacity😃 to start talking about electricity and water (we use gallons for the porridge, soup, and cleaning up) - I said, "Now you're whistling Dixie!". I mean just look at the brand of split peas they buy - is that not courting disaster?
However, I had no problem buying our little ones their burgers and hotdogs for the big day. All made possible by your kindness. May you be blessed in abundance. x.
So, off the ladies went to buy the necessities, and it wasn't long after that we were donated a huge bag of rice.
Lunchtime we served sandwiches, bananas, and juice.
Now getting back to the ladies, they're top class! They sent that DA Councillor a message. The gist of it read, "We have a function on Sunday, and are expecting over 200 people from the community, including 60 ladies on Women's Day. To date we haven't received a plugged nickle from you. So, how do you plan to assist us, sunshine (obviously my addition)!?".
It took less than five minutes for him to respond that he would provide the ladies with care packs. Which he personally dropped off late afternoon. Our ladies, although liking them, weren't giving him an inch - "I suppose they will do..." Rasheeda, sighed nonchalantly. He was sweating by the time they took him into the office. And they kept him there for ages.
I wasn't party to it all, fearing I may rant like that oft used clip from the movie "Downfall" (2004), but stood smoking whilst looking out on his parked car by the office door. Eventually, I had waited long enough. Stomping on the butt of the discarded cigarette, I could only, whisper, in sympathy, "Shame, you poor sum*****!".
There were plenty promises which is a trait of all politicians, but nothing concrete. However, for the moment, we shall give him the benefit of the doubt. You will all certainly be kept informed.
Grateful that everything is starting to take shape for Sunday. And can't emphasise enough how important those prayers, good wishes, and positivity - through God's Good Grace - are. Please keep them coming as we have much work we would like to do.
It is your blessings that keep us going.
Be blessed. x.

Great reading that article. Made me reminisce on the great old days with Shaheen Shaw fervently scribbling in his Computaform, circling the numbers as he presented Under Starters orders on a Saturday morning, along with guests that actually knew what they were talking about.
But can he do it on a cold wet Tuesday night? Oh yes he could; also remembered how he would challenge the punters to show the operator who was the life blood of the game by playing into the UK pools, always pushing us to "hit them hard". Also remember a few idiots getting angry at him for getting odds straight from the UK for us, because the local bookmakers were only offering significantly lower odds. This guy was way ahead of his time in this game, and a massive loss. As one comment stated, the article was indeed a humbling read, and really puts the racing game into perspective. Wish him and his family everything of the best, and really hope that he somehow finds his way back to the TV screens.
