Fancy Yorktown (4/1) in the 7th. This horse won second time of asking as a juvenile and was rated a 98. Has been competing at a level 90 and once higher, and the rating has dropped to a 91. Conceded 5.0kgs to both Royal Return (13/10) and Pink Floyd (28/10) for a 5.25 and 6.5 beating. Tomorrow, concedes 3.0kgs to Pink Floyd and 2.5kgs to Royal Return. Whilst this may not look sufficient to overturn the placings against these two, last time out was the second run after a rest and he probably ran flat as the betting drift suggested. The drop in rating should see Yorktown be competitive.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Race 1 too many unraced
Race 2 too many unraced
Race 3: What a Flirt has been below best recently but on best form can beat Meet at the George.
Race 4 Very open. Broadside has most scope for improvement, but some very consistent older sprinters.
Race 5 our filly Secret Depths won well last time and is holding form. She can win again, although Quickstep Lady should be right next to her. Flame Tree must be respected.
Race 6 Fynbos is fit and well and should have won last time. She has won this course and distance and is overdue her second win. Our other runner Grey Princess won a gutsy race last time and if they let her get away from them can win again. Quite a few others with chances in a competitive race.
Race 7 Another open handicap. My short list is Six Degrees, Pink Floyd, Royal Return.
Race 8 The Second Wave and Morse have best form but drawn in the bush. JJ the Wolf and Alfreds Legacy next best. Radiant Love is knocking on the door.
Our boy Elusive Tango should enjoy Durbanville but has a few lengths to improve if he’s to trouble the top ones.
