Summer Cup stakes --- part of the big 4 races in SA rubbish

how long has the stake been stuck at 2 million. When will this race go back to grade 2

this year we have a 73 merit rated horse nominated. really have we fallen so far.

PS i think a lot of the graded races are going to take a hit this season

A 73 that was a 63 two months ago. Those owners must have the stone needle to their cash. Either that or hold onto your seats the EPO/Cobalt is about to launch

Quite a strong field of noms this year, imho. I dont see the 73 that was a 63 a month ago....

These are noms, first entries. In the end, the final field will be the true indicator. Always nice to have a wild card or two in any race. In UK, some Classics have maidens running in them.

I note the absence of the Cape horses....the KZN guys have nominated 5 horses, and there's one from Kimberley too.

The entry of Hawwaam will spark a lot of interest and debate. MDK has a strong hand in these first entries.

A 73MR nominated now is no big deal. Who knows what his destiny is?

Looks a strong bunch as nominated - I think the 73 rated horse being referred to is Come the Day - rated 73 before the 10 point increase - anyway these are free noms, so nothing to lose - obviously the connections of the lower rated horses nominated are hoping for significant improvement before 2nd noms fall due ....

It's a handicap, so I'm wondering can Hawwaam and Soqrat (if the stable does accept with those) give runners like Divine Odyssey and Cascapedia 7 kgs and a beating

The big question..... Will Hawwaam actually get to stretch his legs in a race? Or will we be left dumbstruck again?

One thing for certain, if he does get into the final field, alot less people will be bankering him lol.....
