when i say good for SA racing what do i mean???

will stakes go up? Did betting pools increase?
will more owners get into the local game? are we saying overseas owners will buy them and keep them in SA and race here like Ferraris/shakes ?
will more sponsors come on board?

outside of stud farms and Brokers, would racing SA actually benefit? doubt govt would give us more money from increased exports!!

There would be a dramatic increase in foreign buyers as they could immediately ship their purchases to Hon Kong, Singapore, China and the UK. The prices of the top lots would go up giving relief to local breeders.

The middle market would be motivated as any average priced horse that turns out to be something special would immediately get good offers from foreign buyers and thereby offering the smaller owners an opportunity to turn a considerable profit.

The owning ranks desperately needs some incentive to keep buying horses, at the moment it is just an exercise in losing money based on passion. the breeding ranks find themselves in the same situation and need buyers that are happy to pay R3 million for a good yearling which is only 200k in USD, a bargain internationally. The Aussies have been the major beneficiaries of the Asian market and unchallenged for years so they would like the status quo to remain.

A boost for the breeding and owning sectors will have a knock-on effect for the industry at large and hopefully these two sectors together with punters can re-shape the industry as opposed to the current situation where the operators dictate everything.

just my opinion Sylvester, all disclaimers apply :)

Do we have the Sires/stock though?

I’m being serious and not disrespectful..

Our sires have no opposition in SA

The protocols would quickly help our exports prove that our sires can compete overseas

How would it help? More turnover could mean more money available for even better sires.
