Does anyone have specific superstitions around horse racing.

Family member would scratch his horses cancel his bets if someone wished him good luck on the day of the races.
would always wear same Hat to races back in the day.
he had something with order the horses went into the float when leaving for track but cant remember the details.
other trainer
would never rename a horse. if owner wanted to rename horse they could take the horse to anotehr trainer

I have a buddy who will never back a grey if there are other grey’s in the race. Why? Because the one grey would spook the other, I kid you not.

If a horse has to be put down due to an incident on the field
I would leave and won't have another bet

Two for me at the starting stalls.

1) if a horse takes a dump before loading or while loading, it will run unplaced.
2) if a horse “Paw’s” at the ground in the stalls or behind the pens, it wins.

1) if a trainer has more than one runner whichever jock he speaks too first is the one he is trying with
2) If a jock is warming horse up at the start for a long time , he is having a go

If a horse is walking around with a boner firstly don’t back it and secondly run for cover

Not superstition but I’ve always wanted to calculate the winning strike rate of the last horse loaded into the stalls. Has anyone done it?

Bet the horse who is connected to the first person you meet at the track.

This one has been true on many occasions and does help if it's MDK 😉
