was racing 2nd last till the final bend.... had a mountain to climb from there, plus had to weave his way thru.
on the other hand...... P.E. horse drawn 1 !! that says it all.
Just checking the replay and Hawwaam wasn't really that slow away.
Look how high his head is just after they break which to me means the jockey is pulling him back.
I think Lerena wanted to be towards the back, maybe not that far back, but to me it was his decision to come from behind and in hindsight it was the wrong one.
Bob has the replay up,check it out see what you think.

Some great racing .... my two cents on some of the races ....
R4: Top performance by Noble Secret, but the horse to watch after this could be Tirzan; Wonderous Climber- I think all that racing caught him out today - a break on the cards ?
R5: Jet Start as suspected did not stay; Sunshine Silk another who seems in need of a break; Arte - not sure what happened - but also has had a lot of racing recently; Parisienne Chic another game performance from the 6-yr old mare; never thought Gottalotofluv would feature but she certainly won in a canter and is one to follow
R6: Open race, Doosra in the right place at the right time - good ride; I have a feeling that these will continue to beat each other on handicap terms; Zouaves - always runs as if 1600 would not be a problem, but has never won over more that 1400; Greek Fire - not sure what happened to him ?
R7: Nafaayes deserving win - the fact that Running Brave (what a buy at 30k) got so close due to match fitness imo
R8: National Park showed that he is the real deal - yes had the draw and had the run of the race - still was not stopping at the end, and if he was mine, I would have gone for the Classic - nothing to lose and plenty to win; Hawwaam got too far back from a widish draw, sure to be better over the Classic distance and I'am looking forward to the first four renewing rivalry in the Classic
Both Guineas' were fought out by the top rated horses - the top 6 rated fillies filled the first 5 places, and the top 4 rated males filled the first 3 positions; so well done to the handicapper. Vontreo may be one to follow if returning to the handicaps
