Scottsville moved to Greyville

Following heavy rain at Scottsville over the past few days (current Pen reading 31 with some areas recording 40), and forecast of further rain over the next two days, the race meeting scheduled at Scottville on Sunday, 23 December, has been switched to Greyville (Turf). Race 2 distance now 2000m, Races 3 & 4 distance now 1800m, times remain unchanged.

Can anyone enlighten me why the well bred 1st timer in the 1st race today from the Rivalland yard does not seem to have trialed beforehand?

If it has trialed ( the official site has no information ), please could somebody enlighten me how it went.

OTA, I have not asked Tony but I think he has had problems with her and if so you can get permission not to trial but only in exceptional circumstances.

11.Gold Circle may under exceptional circumstances grant an exemption to a
horse from participation in a barrier trial, provided that the trainer applies in
writing for such exemption and it is supported by a veterinary certificate. Such
application is to be received by the NRB within 10 days of the planned race
participation

I wonder what the exceptional circumstances are and why these are not made public? Here we have an absolute mockery of the reasons behind Barrier Trials taking place - transparency.

I wonder what Mr Tarry has to say about this. I recall Liege being barred from racing in KZN because of this exact reason. You have to love this country though... The funny's take place at all levels, not just in Parliament.

Not sure about the reasoning but if the horse in not sound enough to participate in a barrier trail how come it's all of a sudden sound enough to run in a proper race?
