Absolute disgrace the way the whip was used by Bernard. I was taken apart previously for bringing this up but I do t give a damn. It's not right the way he uses the whip.....and I had a big bet on Vikram.....but I absolutely hate watching that

Jockey B Fayd’Herbe (VIKRAM) was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline C on the use of the crop) in that he struck the horse VIKRAM more than three times on consecutive strides in the final stages. Jockey B Fayd’Herbe signed an admission of guilt and was fined R750.00.

For R750 they have done it before and they will do it again.
After how many fines do you actually get banned if ever?
Punters want the jockey to try so they caught in two minds about this, but watching Fayd'herbe on Vikram and Luke Morris every day in the UK,outsiders to the sport will not support this game as they might think it's a cruel sport.
I much prefer to see a jockey riding hard with both hands pushing the horse and maybe a smack or two to keep the horse concentrating rather than just hitting the crap out of the horse.

He certainly messed things up for all the punters.
The fine is too less I think.

Result was right. Unless of course one is a conspiracy theorist because in the photo presented as evidence there is no absolute frame of reference that I can see? Photoshopping a line in wouldn't be convincing either .
Maybe the fixed reference and angle of the finish line is just absent on this particular photo, but without it , it could be any frame of many taken just before a or after finish, or taken from any angle. If there is to be clarity at least the "official photo " should be indisputable .

Absolutley PeeKay . BF was racing handy, went out for a run a bit early and it was obvious that horse was faltering when challenged. One or 2 smacks in and nothing more was forcoming ...a few more and no change...but still he persists in needless violent use of the whip . He would have helped the horse more by better balance instead of flailing. It wouldn't have helped this decent horses progress this experience.

I agree Bob. My point was mainly there should be absolute faith in a photo finish . Whether it's just the posted image, or the official one, that lacks the criteria to be definitive and remove all doubt I don't know. With corruption rife in all aspects of SA life there should be no ability to question the photo finish.
Anybody seen all the other photos on the day? Any markers on those?
It's just sloppy if there isn't an indisputable, visible and verifiable marker .
