DUAL Gr.1 Winner Erupt (IRE) will join the Maine Chance Farm stallion roster this season, to stand alongside premier stallions Silvano and Querari.

The only European Gr.1 winning son of one of the worlds best stallions Dubawi, to stand in South Africa, Erupr won the €600,000 Grand Prix de Paris (Gr.1) over 2400m at Longchamps, the breed shaping race first run in 1863 and won by many famous horses such as Nearco, Pharis, Vieux Manoir, Sicambre, Charlottesville and Peintre Celebre. The 1993 running was won by none less than Fort Wood, who was to become the Champion Sire of South Africa.

Dear Breeder and Owner

It is a privilege to introduce the excellent dual Group 1 Winning new stallion ERUPT (IRE) who will arrive in South Africa on 29th July, 2018.

A STALLION of great quality is matched by a syndicate of World renowned breeders who own him:
• His breeders, the famous Niarchos Family, whose impact on the breed is in itself of "chef de race" status, having bred 145 individual Group 1 winners inc: KINGMAMBO, MACHIAVELLIAN and the great MIESQUE. They added two more G1W in 2018 winning the Irish 1000 Guineas G1 and French Derby G1.
• Their partner, Andreas Jacobs, well known in South Africa with his Maine Chance Farms, but also owning England's rising young stud Newsells Park, and the famous German Champion Stud Farm, Gestut Fahrhof, breeders of great Champion Sires such as SURUMU, ACATENANGO and SILVANO.
• The South African syndicate represents most of the best breeders in South Africa.

One of the best sons of the World class sire DUBAWI (Dubai Millenium) and descending from the famous stallion producing female line of FANFRELUCHE, the high quality ERUPT brings a Classic pedigree and a rich gene pool of Champion two year olds, Classic Winners and Chef de Race stallions that have dominated the breed.

In the quest to breed Classic Winners and winners of South Africa’s biggest races like the July, Met and Champions Cup, here is the stallion destined to fill the shoes of the older Champion Sires like Silvano and Dynasty.

Attached you will find a brochure that contains a treasure trove of information on this exceptional prospect. Alternatively, a click on the link below will take you to the Web site of Maine Chance Farms where the brochure is also available for download.

The first season stud fee is R10,000 nomination and R40,000 live foal. For any serious breeder, this is an offer to be strongly considered.

I strongly recommend ERUPT (IRE) to you. He was brought to our attention by Lillingston Bloodstock in Ireland, and both Justin Vermaak of Greenstreet Bloodstock and I of Northfields Bloodstock are available for questions or enquiries. The Syndicate Manager is Maine Chance Farms and nominations can be booked at the farm office contacting Tim Bootsma:

Wish them all the best in these difficult times, i hope there is light at the end of the tunnel for racing?

I am actually surprised that people still see potential in breeding? Hope they are correct.

Good punting

Yip

I am sure they have done the homework but what i am really asking is there enough optimism in racing to find more mares to be covered at 40k a pop?

This is not a negative response from my side, as I hope the venture is feasible and glad people still find the need to invest in racing.

Erupt Winning the grade 1 over a long distance.......why breed with these long distance horses if there isnt even maiden plates over 2400m in SA?

.....maiden plates over 2400m are for plodders.....the idea of breeding horses for 10+ furlongs is to go for Derbys....then group races 10-12 furlongs....July, Met, Summer Cup is in that range too.... ;)

Muhti my point is that there are too few long distance races in general in SA. 1 or 2 races longer than 3000m. A few 2400m races and then i agree you get 2000-2400m races, but some horses need more than this.

Personally i would go with breeding 1600-2000m horses and hope they can get a little extra.......if not, there are still plenty races to target.

....actually a moot point....the staying gene is in the mitochondrial trail and is passed on by the female side of the pedigree...but nothing wrong with this stallion....he looks genetically sound and should do just fine here....

Should be a great stallion prospect BUT? As has been said many times before the programme is aimed at sprinter/ milers. And while the programme is as it is now it is impossible to allow a top stayer to go through the divisions. The best example ever is Hermoso Mundo. No Hoper march 2017, Big 3 staying race winner 2017.Only after put in a feature under sufferance which he won in a canter
