Do you honestly believe that legislate is going to run in the july with 60kg on his back if so back him with me please ..he will only race in wfa races such as the mile wfa or the 1800m race at the end of july...its a joke that he can come do some half pace work and beat horses that are rated 50 pounds lower than him AT LEVEL WEIGHTS and jump up the log into 9th place ...Whoever put him there hasnt got a fucking clue and is an insult to the connections of the other horses trying to get into the race...its another case of idiots running the show

That also what I have gleaned. That no clear race planned but all by ear, Possibly the mile , most likely crack at Met as real target but while they decide, a tentative entry in July.
As for the log i have no doubt if he doesnt run before the July he shouldnt/ wont get in the field so I also dont get his position on the latest log which implies that if the field came out today he would make it.
Just seems wrong, even though If he was well I would rate him with a decent shout.

sugahorse wrote: Zelig - After a certain amount of time away from the track, their MR is dropped. (After 6 months it is 3 points I think and after 12 months it is 6 points). That would put him at a 111. But recently all MR's were raised by 6 points again, which is why he is 117. If he had been in racing, barring any MR increases due to race performance, he would have gone to a 123.
So he has in fact been dropped the 6 points due to being off the track for a year or more.

Hi sugahorse. Do you know that date when they globally added 6lb?

1 march 2018 Mac ....
Legislate was dropped 6 points in the time he was at stud ..... that 6 points were allocated back on first of march so he runs off same rating .... nothing sinister or special treatment ...

Know the rules ;) :P

Just giving my 2cents but from a marketing point of view, i think Legislate will be in the july, gold circle will do whatever it takes to hype up the occasion... and as always people will get suckered into it by believing the hype... from what i heard when i was at the met this year was that legislate was already in training and was suppose to make a comeback during the cape season but they didnt want to take a chance and waited for kzn. Im not sure if this true but i do believe the back into training part because he looks like a fresh 3 yr old..

Sure it was not March 1, probably around 10 March ..... case in point Shenanigans ran off 78 in Feb, then 80 on 6 March - increased to 89 on when running on 17 March

Also (seeing that you such a fundi as far as the rules are concerned :P ) is it stated somewhere how many points are deducted during an absence - i.e. how come Legislate got dropped 6 points (why not 4, or 8) ?

Layoff Allowance
Horses 4 year old older where no WFA is applicable to receive up to a maximum of 3 rating points for being off 210 days
and 5 rating points for 365 days and more. Horses placed in a graded race at their last start may receive an allowance at
the discretion of the handicapper but not exceeding 5 rating points.
Retrospective assessments of a horse’s last start when returning from a layoff also to be utilized when making a rating
adjustment.

Pretty sure the 6pts is correct but not sure where to find it - above are the old guidelines

Correct Mr Hawaii ...thank you

Frodo ....it was 1 march 2018 .... i dont thumbsuck my friend .... your race in question on 6 march was on rating before he got( like all horses ) his 6 points added because the weights for this specific race was already allocated and set before 1 march . I know my rules ;) lol

This is by no means a strong July field and anything could win, Snaith is a professional and won't put him in the race if he didn't think it had a chance to win. Obviously a prep run or two would also put me at ease.

Go Legislate me boy B)

I agree with Pirates, the July log has been exposed as the error filled operator manipulated list that it is. For legislate to be rated above any horse entered in the countries premier race is ludicrous. It is particularly harsh when the horse "qualifies" after a training gallop against nothings.

I have a question and a hypothetical one - what would happen if Dynasty were brought out of retirement, supplemented into the race, and won a barrier trial over 1200 against maiden drek. Would he also "qualify"?
