Phumelela Bans Sporting Post From TABs

Hollywood have tote terminals in their shops.

I assume HW earns commission from transactions made at these terminals.

Surely this is contributing more than SP and Winning Form to HW's bank to 'fight' Phumelela in court.

The mind boggles.

Publications not banned from TAB, Betting World outlets
Phumelela Gaming’s decision to no longer offer Hollywood Group publications for sale in its TAB and Betting World outlets has sparked an irrational outcry among a small group of horseracing fans.

For the record Phumelela has not banned Hollywood Group publications as suggested in one of the publications – Phumelela has merely stopped selling them in its outlets. Horseplayers who buy these publications elsewhere are free to use them at Phumelela outlets and racecourses.

There are sound reasons why Phumelela has decided to stop offering Hollywood publications in its outlets.

In the first instance a provincial gambling board has objected to Phumelela assisting to promote Hollywoodbets through the sale of its publications when Hollywoodbets is not licensed in that province.

Secondly, when Hollywoodbets contributed to Tellytrack – and thus towards the cost of running the business of horseracing – Phumelela allowed Hollywood Group publications to be sold in Phumelela outlets.

Hollywoodbets, however, ceased to pay the applicable Tellytrack commercial subscription fee a long time ago and do not contribute towards horseracing in the same way as other betting companies like World Sports Betting.

And finally, as everybody is well aware, retailers do not stock their competitors’ products. Consequently, it’s hard to fathom why some question Phumelela’s decision to no longer stock publications that are produced by, and promote, one of its major competitors in the betting arena.

Because if you sell any publication from any supplier the people who want them will use whichever publication the prefer to have a bet at you tote outlets!!!!!!. These people are imbeciles. Holy cow how simple and stubbornly stupid are these people??

Thinking about it - maybe the reasons for banning have more to do with the content in SP than Hollywood - If you don't want the punters to see real Industry stories then what better way than to stifle the voice in your totes... The Citizen won't publish any negative Racing stories so job done (I can assume this as the operator stopped all Racing Journo awards which fits right with this move) - The real problem with Racing is that there is no competition for staging races and that has caused a stagnation and decline.
