I personally think Orchid Island (With Zackey up :) ) will be running a very good race in the Woolavington come Saturday

EDICT OF NANTES,imo will win the daily news, draw seems to be the only thing that he has to overcome,,,was given a soft ride last time out which I assume was a prep for this race,,,,

I'm all in

Secret captain and party crasher. Heavily supported last start, did not act on poly, both at huge prices. 13/1 place double B)

With the obvious exceptions of William Longsword and Gold Standard, I don't think that the rest of the Cape 3yo colts have looked great. Edict of Nantes is the best of the coastal horses running, but I prefer the Gauteng form. Al Sahem will be staying on best of all and i think is the one to beat.
The Woolavington is tricky as the two top rated fillies, Gimme Six and Final Judgement are not certain to stay a hard run 2000m. Safe Harbour is the dark horse- at her best (just a head behind Just Sensual and Bela Bela )she wins this, but has had a tough year having competed in both the Cape and Gauteng seasons and now the KzN. There is precious little between numbers 4-9, all of which are distance suited.

Orchid Island should have a big chance here having beaten furiosa by 4 lengths not long ago.
Gimme six won well last time out.
Will be interesting to see if orchid remains 40/1 for july if she wins by 3 lengths on Saturday at 7/1...Value bet for me for Saturday.

Snazzy D, I am not PeterD but here is my take. Al Sahem is weighted to win the race and is 4 points higher than Edict of Nantes. If he wins it would depend how he wins, if it is by a small margin I would doubt the handicappers would increase his rating but if he wins by over 2 lengths then he could incur a penalty.

The more interesting scenario IMO is if Al Sahem gets beaten. What will that do to the rating of the horse that beats him? If he loses by 1 length and he is used as the line horse the winner should incur a rating of around 108, that means the horse will carry 54 instead of 53 for the July.

Looks like a very interesting weekend ahead with some lovely race.

Edict Of Nantes "stole" the Cape Derby.
