Fake jockey apprehended at Newbury during Queen's visit




An interloper dressed as a jockey was escorted from the parade ring on Friday at Newbury, where the Queen was visiting to watch her runner Maths Prize contest the Dubai Duty Free Golf World Cup EBF Stallions Conditions Stakes.

The man, believed to be a racegoer on a stag trip, was apprehended by Newbury chief executive Julian Thick and escorted from the the ring after sneaking in aided by his disguise.

Newbury head of communications Andy Clifton said: "A guy who appeared to be on a stag do tried to walk into the parade ring with the jockeys and was politely asked to leave by Julian, who apprehended him.
