Jockey Sponsors no more?
8 years 1 month ago - 8 years 1 month ago
Had a message from a jock saying their breeches don't belong to them anymore and that sponsors are no longer allowed.
Not sure if it's only breeches or all sponsors caps or mentioning sponsors on TT

Its a bs move by Phumelela and Gold Circle. Its all about money. They want it and do not want others to earn without them earning. The jocks will do nothing and the show will go on.

I will be very surprised if this is true and the jocks do nothing about it....jocks hold alot of power in racing (we've seen it in some meetings cancellations).
Will be interesting to see how this plays out....

Re: Jockey Sponsors no more?

I know there are quite a few owners that are not happy with their time being spent promoting the jockeys sponsors, who have absolutely f-all to do with their moment, or are not paying the owner for his time/expenses.....? For me even more so if the jocks don't even know who they are riding for but give credit to their sponsors. wtf? This whole racing game is so f....up isnt it ? I must seriously consider getting out, it really irritates the shit out of me.
The owner comes last in everything including having to spend their few seconds listening to the jocks sponsors being promoted. Why must my horses winning promote my oppositions business ?

I follow the credo that nothing lasts forever. Phum, Gold Circle and Ken Racing basically lgrabbed these rights as their own. Ask the Jockeys and trainers if there was any consultation with them. These companies started with licences to hold race meetings and to run and own the tab. They took this with open arms and and a lot more. The only people who took on these giants have been bookmakers and Purple Capital. Guess who is the biggest victor. I believe that the jockeys will do nothing. They are not united and most are as tight as nails.

Seemingly the jocks were given a deadline to register who their sponsors are, if they missed the deadline rule 18:3 was to be used
But the message i received was that they are not allowed to carry sponsors on their breeches, full stop!
