Many of you would not have heard of John Gorton......Tops of the Top... :cheer: ( I know Naresh will have all his details).

Won a very big race in France for Omar Sharif, a story for another day!....

P.S Maybe Muis Roberts could also be considered as a trainer......... :P

His father was Jackie Gorton who trained at Clairwood for my dad and uncle,,,Faro and Summer Dream were 2 of ours that shone...the rest were fairly average, Jackie also trained a bullet calle Fuzzy Rag...but that was not ours,,Johnny rode with a lot of success in Australia he returned to SA and was a private trainer to the Oppenheimers, In 2013 he became the Mongolian Racing Club's president and Director of Racing ....

Training in South Africa for over 30 years, David achieved a feat rarely matched by any other – training the winners of every Group One race held in South Africa. Having also trained the winners of 100 individual Group One races in South Africa, David is the only person to ride and train a winner of South Africa’s prestigious Group One Durban July Handicap.
