Hi Guys,

Scottsville Today

Best Bets

Race 5: Heir Line(7) 7-2 (Again no formline to go by but Mr O'Neil has won 2 in a row so has been lifted in the ratings, all the while Heir Line won a good race in the maidens and got a MR77 which i think is too low. He is higher than this and will be even better over further)

Race 7: Street Flyer(2) 28-10 (BEST BET OF THE DAY. Visitor from the in form Houdalakis stable, has been holding form and running as far as i am concerned in very weak company. Keep an eye out for Topical's Son(12). Was a MR66 now 9 points drop in ratings so exata and swg look good)

Race 8: Modesty(1) 7-10 (Dont like tipping odds on but i have no choice. This is really a weak field in fact this whole card is. The good news is i have a horse that will be 2nd. Intercept(3) 12-1 and Rae's Dyna Jet(2) 8-1. Take exacta with both boxed and trifectas should pay a few rand. Getting back to the winner, she is improving all the time and going over a distance which she should enjoy)

Value Bets

Race 4: Hold The Line(6) 13-2 (No real formline to go by here but i dont like Wynkelder. I think he did not win in a good field a think the handicappers have put him too high in the ratings. HTL has been holding form in this type of company & I think he is good value)

Race 6: Brigtnumberfive(1) 13-2 (2nd run after rest but Drier has his horses ready to run so i think there will be no issues. Had his first run over way shorter last time out and looked like she would win but then was sprinted out of it. BIG RUNNER!!!!!!)

EXOTICS

P6

1 x 1,2,3,6,7,4,5 x 1,4,6,7,8 x 1,3,5,6,7,8,10 x 2 x 1 R245

JP

1,2,3,4,5,6,7 x 1,4,6,7,8 x 1,3,5,6,7,8 x 2 R210

Better racing in the week!!! See you guys Tuesday for Kenilworth

Good Racing

Dream de Ra and Midnight Man for me today. Trying to bank some early cash.

I remember Val de Ra beating a strongly fancied De Kock baby first time out( both were having their debut runs at Scottsville) she was a machine. The de Kock horse was Merhee if Im not mistaken and ended up winning races in Dubai. Hopefully it will be a happy hunting ground for her first progeny.

Take the prices on offer, work it out to fractions, and you will arrive at the percentage e.g. 1/1 = 50%, 15/10 = 64%, 2/1 = 33%, 7/1 = 13.0%, etc, etc, add up all the percentages and you'll arrive at the betting percentage or over-round figure, 130%, 140%, etc, etc.

That's why it's always a good idea when studying a race to add an imaginary price/percentage to the field (in other words, what winning chance you give each horse in the race), and when the "official" betting comes out, you should in your mind spot the value or an over-priced horse.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.
