NGONG RACING
8 years 4 months ago
This race meeting is an absolute circus.
Last Sunday [the last race],I noticed some animals running across the track about three hundred meters in front of the starting stalls.I thought they looked like monkeys ,my friend though they looked like mongoose.Anyway the commentator confirmed it was monkeys running across the track.
Then the circus begun ,two monkeys decide to sit in the middle of the track whilst one monkey at a time decide to run across the track...I stand corrected but it could have been at least thirty monkeys if not more that ran across the track one by one until it was one horse to load[after about five minutes trying to load a few horses].Then one of the monkeys sitting in the middle of the track runs across and then only one monkey in the middle of the track. This monkey stands up runs back [I think to see if any more monkeys to cross]..after a few seconds bolts across the track and then only DOES THE RACE BEGIN!

Fundamentally have no problem with Ngong racing, just dont sacrifice showing a UK venue with full betting options in favour of this, split screen at best.

One of the staying races on Sunday saw a couple horses run the race like the "Easter dash" and failed to take the bend into home straight two horses ran through the fence and one jockey simply threw in the towel and jumped off .....
What is upsetting is that Ngong races are normally included in the Sunday quick mix/bi pot express and most of us loose value by going the field as no one knows what will happen in this race..horses bolting/jumping fences/jockeys falling off horses/monkeys running on track/commentator calling wrong results[big problem].
Anyway that's my take on Ngong.

I suppose on a lighter note the punters in Kenya can always have a monkey on the first fav

I think this post is extremely unfair towards ngong racing , which im sure is being run under extremely difficult circumstances , I have seen dogs running across the course in the uk causing delays which are never posted about , as for there standard of jockeys im sure there academy does its best but without adequate equipmet and funding ?

Nothing is unfair the point has always been why offer an inferior product to the punters its basically shocking and reading between the lines and just in case my comment has been taken along the wrong lines in this mixed up politically correct world
A monkey in racing terms is 500 quid
