It's all about opinions and on this occasion Bloomberg opinion was wrong. Today he will pick 5 winners and tomorrow 1. That's how it goes, move on as there is no point moaning about it.

As a laitie I wasn't around when Bloomberg ran his 'Ringer' tipping service. I heard about it and than...as with MOST TALKED up tipsters I glueed in a few times when he gave discussions on Big Days. Like most of us he has his on and off days...but I didn't understand was why all the uproar??? Y'all made as if he is the ALI of tipsters...when on this very forum theree are multiple good ones. Y'all talked him up just like you did with Marineresco and Horizon,lol. So relax,its just like chicken says.
He has been around and raced and punted successfully over many years. To many on this forum like to jump on the bandwagon, that's besides being after race merchants. Let everyone be and look in the mirror

If you rubbish every horse in a 20 horse field you will be 95% right all of the time!
Inasmuch a some of Robert's 'tips' may have been 'off the mark' yesterday it is up to the player to evaluate those recommendations and play accordingly.
I can tell you this - for a number of years I used to travel to Robert's home regularly every Saturday afternoon and punt alongside him. What I learned there insofar as betting techniques, money management etc., are concerned has equipped me to survive as a punter pretty much ever since.
The most important lessons I learned from that period have been :
Punting on horses and, in particular, South African racing is not for me. But it may be for you! I have detailed my reasons on this site on many occasions and will not bore you again with them here.
Yet I do remain constant in my one mantra : Betting on 'big days' is hazardous at best and ill advised at worst due to the ultra competitive nature of the racing.
By applying many of the lessons (which I can only credit to Robert) to my sports activities I have managed to continue pursuing what is a lifelong hobby for me whilst also earning profits which I probably would never have earned had I continued with the 'same old, same old' methods that I had historically & habitually applied before observing & learning from some of Robert's methods.
At the end of the day you have to maintain certain disciplines. These will sometimes deliver & sometimes not. But blindly following favourites, for example, is simply participating at the MOST EXPENSIVE price and is almost guaranteed to stick you out.
A simple example of the above strategy ( which did not work out perfectly ) was my play in race 12 where I employed methodology I have learned from Robert :
I narrowed my fancies down to two - Nima & The High Life. As my personal discipline dictates that I punt the bigger priced horse & save on the 'shortie' I took R10,000/1400 Nima & R2000/440 The High Life. We all now know that The High Life won by a proverbial whisker. My profit from the race was a disappointing R480 whereas I would have profited to the tune of R8,960 had the short head not gone against me.
'After the race' merchants would ask why I did not play it the other way around. There is a twofold response to that :
It would have required a far greater outlay to achieve the same potential outcome. But more importantly my DOWNSIDE RISK would have been far greater in the event of both horses being beaten. Which is the way it all too often pans out!
As there is absolutely no certainty in any punt you simply formulate your play; hopefully with the downside as limited as is possible.
The one major divergence I had with Robert on the day was with regard to Ovidio :
He started off by stating that the stayers race had historically produced almost no winning favourites in previous years. Fact. Then he went on to (correctly) state that Ovidio (on all known form) had the appearance of a 'good thing'.
So you had a simple choice to make : Accept the perceived form or be cautioned by history. Your choice. As I had gleefully attended the 'Ovidio wedding' at 20/1 in 2016 and earned myself a tidy R65,000 on the race there was no ways I was booking a front row seat at a possible 'Ovidio funeral' in 2017. So I had a tiny (unsuccessful) bet on another runner and avoided the short priced Ovidio trap. ( Ditto Legal Eagle ).
In this instance I must tip my hat to Vee Moodley who strongly questioned the formline based on the pedestrian time registered by Ovidio in his last outing. Vee actually went so far to to recommend we drew a line through that effort as he felt it would not work out. Respect to Vee and thanks for the cautionary.
Whichever way we slice and dice it Robert is a brilliant analyst. But - without speaking for Robert who is well able to represent himself - he does not claim to be a tipster. Who would? I also know that he may well have finally set up his play to include a cover on the eventual winner; who had undoubted claims.
I personally ended up with a small losing day ( as expected) but, at least, gave myself the OPPORTUNITY to win about R250,000 on a longshot play which almost predictably failed. Such is the nature of this type of meeting.
At least the Met saved me from punting Liverpool on the day; which would have had far more serious financial implications!
