in the majorca stakes i dont like the fav,it has a 20 draw and i think this is an open race.i do fancy the snaith runner star express with striker on top.it has a bad draw of 13,but this is its 3rd run after a rest and last time finished 5th in the paddock stakes behind bela bela.on lqp day jonathon snaith said this horse is almost as good as bela and on work he could not seperate them.i will incl star express in the exotics an have an e/w punt on the day.

I am not strong on Rodney, but I think he is in with a fair shout. Certainly weighted to finish ahead of Captain Swarovski (4/1) and possibly Orion Quest (4/1) on their respective runs to Search Party. I took the 11/2 (on the head) yesterday, so it's encouraging that it currently trades at 9/2.
The two I really fancy are Horizon and Ovidio, managed to get 10/1 the double last week.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

In Race 5 one horse I would not discount is Safe Harbour. She seems to be improving with every run. She beat the boys in the 1400m Lanzerak running on strongly to win. Her last effort just behind Bela Bela was out of the top draw. She has cracked a decent draw and Weichong knows her well. I am sure he will be keen on winning this race after having to be stood down last year on the ill fated Illuminator. I am taking her to beat William Longsword.

I make Edict of Nantes a pointer. Go Frankie Go!!!
Whilst Edict of Nantes will be in the shake-up...Horizon was a most impressive winner last time and desperately unlucky when badly interfered with in the previous race. It may be beaten, yes, but if there is a pointer in the race, it's the Bass runner imho. I have a runner that I have an affinity with...a huge soft spot so I pop it into my bets again...Elevated

Re: Kenilworth Saturday 28th January -MET DAY
8 years 4 months agoProbably the most difficult race on the card due to the poor draws of the fancied runners...10 Goodtime Gal and especially 15 Lady of the house with superman up bears careful consideration here.winzip wrote: in the majorca stakes i dont like the fav,it has a 20 draw and i think this is an open race.i do fancy the snaith runner star express with striker on top.it has a bad draw of 13,but this is its 3rd run after a rest and last time finished 5th in the paddock stakes behind bela bela.on lqp day jonathon snaith said this horse is almost as good as bela and on work he could not seperate them.i will incl star express in the exotics an have an e/w punt on the day.

I honestly can't work out the price discrepancy in the 2nd. As much as Kotzen tried to palm off that it wasn't stable money etc etc, Namibia was heavily punted on debut and came home easily despite racing really green. Dutch Philip also won pretty well but Namibia definitely has a classy look about her and at 4 to 1, that's good enough for me. Silver Mountain, at around 7/2, will be another play back over 1600 m, and with William Longsword heading off to stud soon, he'll complete my 3 timer for the day.

Shrek, I also believe William Longsword is beatable, only problem is, my fancy in the race is half way down the betting board and on the drift. Anyway, the horse doesn't know it's drifting.
I fancy I Travel Light (20/1) - steady on there clan members. This horse ran Gold Standard to within 0.25 of a length carrying level weights. Looking at his next run, he was beaten by William Longsword, and comfortably at that. I'm going to make the excuse (consoling myself here) that that was the first run back after the gelding. Won't use the draw as an excuse because William Longsword was drawn equally poor.
Next time out he made the expected improvement and won in open company, admittedly didn't beat much.
On a collateral line, if you think William Longsword beat Gold Standard by 0.50 and Gold Standard downed I Travel Light by 0.25, if repeating the Gold Standard run, then the 20/1 is good value.
From stall gate 6, he could be the joker in the pack.
