HUNTING TOWER
17 years 1 week ago
I had a look at Fridays mercury and found that Hunting Tower does not appear on the list of the Gold Challenge although there is room for supplementry entries. Hunting ran well in this race last year and was probably a good indicator of what was to come in the July.
I see that Our Giant is in this race which indicates to me that this may be the one for the July as far as this yard is concerned. This would probably mean that Hunting will not have Anton aboard for the July. He has not been entered into the Daily news 2000 whcich has the look of a July qualifier in some respects to me. No offence to those with runners.
I would love to see the raining champ have a even (fair) go at it.I would hate to see a champ fade away as Eye of the Tiger did and get pulled out of the race before he even got a chance to retain his title. Huntings Astrapack run was ok but is the gap between this and the July not maybe a little too much?
Lastly, I dont want to sound to synicle here but could there be a case of owner loyalties playing a role here. IMO the gold Challenge is the perfect race for Our Giant to win and I hope that the Giant is not first choice for the July. I pray that Hunting gets a fair go at retaining his title.
Any views out there?

As far as I know Hunting Tower definitely running in the July,to be ridden by Marcus. Our Giant doesn't stay,so there is no point in running him in the July.

Thanks for the update on the Daily News - should have spotted that. We all know that Our Giant is limited by distance but with the yard and Jooste going over to Aus, is there no chance that they may force Anton to ride Our Giant regardless of winning chance bearing in mind that it would be a nice feather in the Josstes cap to say they won the July?

I guess the big question is "is Anton going over with the yard. If he is I gues he would not want to shoot himself in the foot by refusing to ride Our giant in the July.
