Correct, the horse ran third was the grey filly Sweet Secret who beat Golden Peak in the Woolavington earlier that year. Golden Peak did run 2nd in the Gold Cup though in the same year. Also when night racing just started at Newmarket, I remember, Dancin in the Rain, trained by Gordon, just getting off the float to win a feature race with Lloyd up. That race was delayed due to the float arriving late. Maybe Mr Eudey can give us more information on that win.

Olma rated a 107 and Inara at 111. With the travelling aspect adding a question mark, 8/10 not for me. 9/2 for Olma seems a cracking price for a horse in the form of her life. Sturgeon to get a well deserved grade 1. Trophy Wife not for me, gone backwards IMO since her 2nd in this race last year.

Inara and Olma should easily fill the first two places, with preference for the latter. Boxed exacta should be a safe play too.

Obviously some horses improve with age, others do not, but in the Woolavington last year, Trophy Wife beat Olma by almost 3 lengths, and for me, the KZN form does not inspire a lot of confidence, so I prefer TW to O - but as mentioned, if the real Inara shows up, she will be the one to beat

Frodo, when TW beat Olma in the Woolavington that wasn't the Olma we've been seeing recently. Look at her form after the 4 month or so break. She's been a completely different horse since then. Back to the form with which she started her career. If I compare TW'S form since that run to Olma's, I think she'll easily reverse the form. You're right when you say DBN form is weaker but Olma has not been pushed to the limit in any of her wins, I think there's plenty in hand. I just hope she's travelled well.

Great race though.

Imo, there are 3 possible scenarios here:

1. Inara is not affected by the altitude, in which case she will win, pace or no pace
2. Inara fluffs her lines and there is a true / fair pace - in this case I think Trophy Wife will win with Tiger's Touch the danger
3. Inara fluffs her lines and there is no pace - in which case anything is possible

Not yet sure in my mind which of the scenarios are more likely

Frodo. I with you on this one. I fancy Inara big time.

Olma leaves Summerveld tonight, arriving tomorrow morning early, hopefully she travels well and does Frank proud.

My humble opinion, it's hard to fancy Trophy Wife ahead of Inara or Olma, when she has it all to do at the weights and she has let the side down against weaker opposition in her last two starts. Something to bear in mind with regards Trophy Wife, her two conquerors have not taken their place in this race which pays up to 5th place.

Gun to the head, Olma, she was very impressive against the boys in her last start and has had the benefit of a recent run, Inara, first run since January, she may need it.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Not saying that Trophy Wife is a certainty, but in the Woolavington last year she had both Inara and Olma behind her....yes, Inara looks much better suited to the 1600, but still I don't believe one can ignore TW's chances , 1400 not really her game and I think this race has been her target .....Olma for me (although the form on Formgrids looks strong) has not beaten anything of note and seems to be better on the Poly...would be foolish to ignore her altogether, but I do prefer a few others

I am a Trophy Wife fan (at Turffies outside track) but she has proven to be very disappointing this season.

its really inaras race to lose..triple group one winner and beat a high class filly in same juristriction in her last start..olma should nt have got a 6 pound penalty for her last win as the race was run in shocking conditions with half the field hating the polycrap kickback ..her and the runner up were kept out of it the kickback so really to have her as a 107 having never placed in a group one and inara a triple group one winner only 4 pounds superior is a mystery..she has beaten lala and sabaha for her last two grass wins and if you asked howells how far same juris would beat sabaha he would say a furlong....its inaras to lose
