Race 1: Ferrie looks hard to beat but little value at the price. Castlewood is the main danger.
Race 2:Gin for Genius is consistent and is a narrow selection. Persian Silk reverts to sprinting and should go close. Pixelate, Prize Peg and Royal Seduction have chances.
Race 3: Avail disappointed last time after a few good runs. Could bounce back, but Sun Power is preferred. Rock on Geordies has scope for improvement.
Race 4: Brilliant Crimson showed good improvement last time, and if reproducing that run is a confident selection. Brooklyn Brawler is also improving and looks next best.
Race 5: Sail for Gold is the form horse. Henry of York, Catside Slew and Arachne have handy galloping weights and could pop up if there is a pace on.
Race 6:Be Fabulous ran poorly last time, but is fresher and should run a good race. Tough task against improving 3 yo's headed by Secret Seven. A very open race.
Race 7: Megamind and La Favourari look the right two here. Red Rex had a very busy November, and is competitive off his current rating.
Race 8: We have the exciting prospect Silvan Star. She surprised us when winning so well on debut, and there should be natural improvement to come. She did not beat much last time, but did it easily and got handed a steep rating of 86. She bumps some hardened older fillies with good form, and has to give weight to useful fellow 3yos Goodtime Gal and Tender Trip. A tough task but hopefully she can step up and win again.

R2 moderate field
get the feel that Persian Silk will run well but is beatable especially as they are a rider short
Midnight Spy can run a good race

I may have found a horse that can place at fair odds(14/10 4 places) MIDNIGHT SPY- Hit the front too soon last time and was run out late. Behr takes the ride and is never shy to give a horse a chance in a race. If she is left to run on late I have no doubt that she will earn and could even win at 10-1.

Race 5 this favourite looks ridiculously priced and is not for me today Surruptitious over his ideal distance and if given a positive ride @ 10/1 is e/way value for me

9 years 5 months agoFor me I think the Fav will be hard to beat - The run in The Green Point Stakes was good enough to win a race like this - Less than a length behind Helderburg Blue and Punta Arenas - Also running second in the Winter Guineas and Classic should be too good for this field. and unfortunately Surruptitious has now been scratchedCraig Pienaar wrote: Race 5 this favourite looks ridiculously priced and is not for me today Surruptitious over his ideal distance and if given a positive ride @ 10/1 is e/way value for me

again I'm sorry but Mr Hawaii on the run you mention and Ashton Park was behind Big Cat subsequently
Looking at True Masters 1600m run he trounces Big Cat by 5 I think!
So its tough to make the favourite hard to beat imo

Race 5 is tricky - Solid Speed has class but this is too short and looks like a warm-up race for him. True Master has the ability to win, but must surely be ring-rusty after an injury and a year off. Ze Kaiser is inconsistent these days, but is another that can win on best form. Surruptitious is capable, but seems past his best now and hasn't won for a long time. There isn't much between the 3 at the bottom of the handicap and none would be a shock winner. Sail for Gold is consistent and fit, and will enjoy the drop in class, so is a logical favourite, but I don't see value at 14/10.
Small perms banker him, otherwise a nice leg to look for an upset to make the exotics pay.

My 10 cent worth ..
Race 1. Ferrie (too short)
Race 2. Persian Silk ( Good each way)
Race 3. Sun Power
Race 4. Prince Lateral
Race 5. Sail for Gold but Arachne should be right there
Race 6. Romagna
Race 7. La Favourari
Race 8. Gorgeous Gaby... on a 4 timer
