Camera angle at Kenilworth
9 years 6 months ago
The commentator today says the angle always favours the horse on the outside...
Watching the race i thought the horse on the outside won it
On the still i think the horse on the outside won it
The jocks and everyone on course thought the other horse won it..
Did they call the wrong result

I would sworn that the outside horse won... At the finish of the 1st race Revaun even said (as we all know) that the result favours the outside horse... Even without the photo favouring the outside horse I thought the outside horse got it........
My question, after its gone through the querie stage, if result is changed, what will happen to the punters that backed the outside horse.......

And thing, if the result does get changed, I would love to know if the person/persons who made the intial call had a bet and if so, who they backed..... Basically I smell a rat.......

Karma there is no rat imo, just where we think the line is is different slightly to where it actually is?

Its about time they did something though Bob. Never known everyone be wrong like that. Like everyone else, seemed to me the outside horse won. Especially given the angle which has cost me so many times the other way.
And why isn't the photo released immediately to shut down conspiracy theories before they start? Last time there was this much chat about a close call at Ken, didn't they claim the finish line camera wasn't working and amended the result to a dead-heat? Think there was plenty early money for the "obvious" second that day as well.
Maybe it is all just innocent but it is another bad spot on the image of SA racing. Not that everyone seems to appreciate that the image of the sport is often just as important as the reality. Punters leaving in their droves but nope, no "easy" rides, no doubt about results etc etc. Surely ABC is just a reflection of what punters across the country say in the bookies every day? Right or wrong, it is what they are thinking.
Some people need to open their eyes and see what others (possibly only) think they see, would also be a good idea if they took their heads out of the sand before opening their eyes! lol... measures must be taken so the sport is as far as possible always seen to be clean and honest.

Show me the still on the line....then I will change my mind and say they made the right call, otherwise, no, they got it wrong!!!

Sorry Bob, maybe I was a bit too forward... Let me first start by saying I did not have a single cent on the race (if that matters), but what does definately make me skeptical, is that when watching Hong Kong racing(just an example) , even though we have to get a feed from there(and I am a techno retard so I assume we do), they display a real time photo finish on the line, yet in sa, we cannot do it... It does leave room for a bitter taste imo...
