Another well 1st time will be hot pot for our 1st race... 12/10 from 5/1

Very well bred and has a bit to do to beat Magic and the Goosen horse imo..

Would be more interested if there was money for goosens horse as he has a line on the 2nd fav MAGIC

Edgbaston also interests me at a decent ew price not a bad debut.... good race to watch imo

Does the breeding on this one also not suggest it's bred for further?

Probably on the Dam side but both Dam ( x fort wood ) and Sire throw sand horses

Interesting card - I see 'they' have provided us with a very interesting tidbit regarding the weather - sunset is at 18:01 for those that are interested B)

R1: Obviously the de Kock first timer - cleverly named and a very good cross (dam being out of Fort Wood) and Tiger Ridge's really love the sand - BUT - dam has generally thrown stayers and Delpech has stayed in KZN - could still romp in of course, but at 8/10 I won't be jumping in - Magic the obvious one from the raced runners, but if he fluffs his lines and the de Kock runner runs a dirty 3rd - imagine the momentum in the Bi-Pot  Gold Comet holds both Magic (may have had an off day) and Song from Seattle on the run behind Supanova - so looks good for the first 4 at 18/10 - two other interesting first timers are Boogaloo (should love the sand being by Jay Peg) and Ronin Warrior ( good cross Kahal out of a Jallad mare) - could make the quartets pay

R2: Bullion Bay clearly the one to beat imo - ran a fair 3rd from a wide draw behind Blue Blazer and jumps from pole position today - also get blinkers which is probably intended to sharpen him up to make use of that draw; not a lot jumps out as dangers imo - from me the main challenge could come from Battle of Arcole (drawn in the bush) and perhaps Gaisce Gold (steps up in trip)

R3: Not sure who is going to be riding Carole Bouquet (Striker?) but I think she has the potential to be too good for these; fair run after rest over this trip from a wide draw and set to improve on that imo; the stable companion Nurse Harriet being by Windrush is set to improve further on the surface as well, so an Azzie 1-2 not unlikely imo. Fashion Secret gets pole position and needs inclusion just on that - but I'm guessing that she won't appreciate the sand; Eastside and Ginger Sioux have had many chances but could place; the roughie could prove to be Class Queen - by Jay Peg and only having her 4th outing so worth including in bigger perms imo

R4: Don't know anything about Butool (could be another pick-up ride for Striker?), but not sure why she was priced up as favorite, yes being by Tiger Ridge should like the surface, but maiden win was over 1600, so I'm guessing this is sort of a 'look and see' run after a rest. I prefer Ballerini, who ran a great 3rd in a much stronger field last week; Easy Street tries the sand, so who knows - but for me she is very high in the handicap. Two recent maiden winners Sweet Pickings and Wintry Night are both rated at 75, for me I make Sweet Pickings the better of the two and place value at current odds; dark horse could be the Spies filly Scandal - being by Muhtafal should enjoy the sand and could surprise

R5: Competitive handicap, bar the 2 roughies I'd give most a chance here

R6: Another competitive handicap, where there does not appear to be much between Brad's Surge and Rough Justice; Mighty Manzi an interesting runner, but does look a bit high in the handicap and has a wide draw to negotiate; Wishful Heart tries more ground and I think this could be an experiment to see how he goes over the extra - if he stays, he must have chance; of the others White Christmas and Limbo are both very inconsistent, but could surprise on any day

R7: Lowly fillies handicap where River Run must have a chance, but she is not really weighted to turn the tables on Miesque's Storm - MS has a bit of a wide draw though, so there should not be much between them; Wensleydale won last time over this trip from a wide draw, better draw today and has an obvious chance as well; Divine Grace has been hitting the front and stopping over 1600, so the shorter trip should suit and is another with a chance; Beautiful Shay comes off a maiden win, tries further but this is a weak field so could follow up if she gets the extra 250m

R8: At first glance this also looks competitive, but for me if Peregrine can repeat his win at this track in June last year, he will win this easily - I think he is now 'cherry ripe' and 3/1 looks generous imo; dangers Isosha and Inala will fight it out should Peregrine fall in a hole.

Enjoy B)

Butool has been entered for a small feature on Supreme Cup day so is possibly showing some good work at home. That's probably why bookies so sharp with the price. Breeding also suggest she will be at home on the sand. Personally think Mr Visser bought a nice sort both for racing and for breeding at a later stage.

My main fancy of the day is Rough Justice, in form stable, cracking draw, good jock and weight turnaround with Brad's Surge.

Good Luck

Scarlet Lady was in my opinion one of my top 3 fillies to ever race in SA..late 70s raced same time as Foveros she could literally fly!
