Have the NHA lost their marbles

The NHA who fail to regulate so many of their own rules, suddenly react to correctness gone mad ....................they have withdrawn the name of a horse who shares a name with a City in Texas ,namely Corpus Christi !!!!
Will they be withdrawing all other "place" names?
(Who are they to decide to react to the religious connotation..........a bit like their other subjective "objection" decisions!)
Perhaps they will express their wish that the Governor of Texas takes similar action .... :woohoo:

....you are correct in the translation.....and I was surprised that it was not picked up before the horse ran.....not a religious man myself.... but the "phrase" and not the name has very deep Christian religious connotations.....

IMO
People get far too sensitive about religion, is that not one of the reasons we have all these extremists on the planet we should just leave people to believe in what they want without pushing their own beliefs to other.
I am sure religion has cost more deaths and wars than any other illness, no disrespect meant to anyone.

But is also a City ..................why get involved in a subjective issue!!!!!

Today we have runners with names that could be offensive, to those looking to be offended..........it seems to have become fashionable to be offended!

Many years ago I believe 1990 or 1991 there was a huge uproar about the horse Al Mufti. If memory serves me right this came primarily from the Muslim community. I could be incorrect and without meaning offence in any way, this translated to priest or holy man.

Those objections were ignored by the Jockey Club. Would it be unfair to consider them inconsistent with this latest ruling?

....in the early 80's there was a horse named Lascon.....by sire Laska Floko.....a local company named Lascon Lighting in Main Reef Rd near Industria objected to the then Jockey Club about their name been used in publications and the horse had its name changed....at the time I thought that it was petty and very short sighted of the company to lodge such an objection
......FFS they were getting plenty mileage on the free advertising having the name splashed around in newspapers etc.....Is Lascon Lighting around today.....no....they went lights out
.....taken over by a bigger and better branded company.....
