Hearing no early betting from the 1st of August

I know it will bother some that like to steal the early prices :whistle:

I actually think it`s a good thing, small amounts at big prices creates piss poor markets

but good news that the claims will increase

From 1 August the claim will be 50k for major centres and 25k for PE/Flamingo BUT betting will only come out day of the meeting.

ps i`m sure a few of the big boys will try and do early betting,but when they have went alone themselves in the past they have been smashed up...

thoughts?

Seemingly 90% of early business is graft money, so it sounds like a few (with bank rolls) are destroying the early markets.

very sad state of affairs and will definitely have a negative effect on turnover on racing with the bookies and with the tote...I really cant understand why you cant come out with opening betting at midday 24 hours before the meeting..the computaforms come out at least 4 to 5 days before the meeting so whats the actual problem?

There should be a rule,nothing over 110% in doing there odds.The times I see the book at 130% + is frightening.

all the more reason to legalise betting exchanges so let the punters form an antepost market and get rid of the sheep bookmakers who cant price up

Good to know that there still are traditional odds compilers working in South Africa. In the Uk and Ireland they all seem to have turned into Betfair watchers.

Turnover will decrease, lots of guys take their cash bets at bookies after they finished work, a day before a race meeting. Most working folk don't get time off to go and take bets on race days.
