Boycott of Gold Circle

Just reading the call for a boycott of Gold Circle for not using the Polytrack to save t'morrows meeting.I agree that maybe it could have been done but I think it is only the 2nd time that Poly hasn't saved a meeting in Natal(both were at Pmb)
Well  ...................has nobody noticed that Gauteng haven't even bothered to put in a Poly track and also race on the kitty litter. (that has caused abandonments, even in perfect weather)
Why is no pressure being applied to "P" to have an all weather surface as weather patterns get more unpredictable ?

Don't see why calling for a boycott would help ?
Maybe punters should call for a boycott every time a trainer runs and under done horse blah blah

Remember we must keep the punter interested and not drive them away

And where was the jockeys wife or the trainer when their champion trainer was kicking a horse , or when James Goodman was screaming about steroid misuse ?

Operators definitely need to become more "service orientated" so any kind of reaction is good.

I just find it ironical that not using a polytrack can cause more anger than not having one at all.............lol

Rob I'm just guessing at the reasoning , financial is my favourite, if the cost of switching venues with some scratchings is going to hurt so much , then racing is really in the soapy .

Racing is in trouble in this country and it is clearly in dire need of a solution.

A race day lost is a big issue when you are already racing 364 days a year and with no alternative to boost revenue.

Racing has done the cost savings through rationalisation of the race course portfolio and have all but maxed out churn and per capita spending gains.

Subsidisation is delaying the inevitable but as pressure mounts on this lifeline the reality must be dawning on all concerned.

There are only two possibilities in the long run, cut your losses and exit racing altogether or find a viable and sustainable customer growth program to make racing self sufficient and profitable again.

The second option does not appear to be getting consideration and support which has to make you wonder at which time option one will become a reality.
