UK Monday

R3 Lingfield Gilzean E/W. Ran poorly at Taunton last time, but was held up right out the back in a race where only the prominent racers got involved. Is likely to be ridden closer to the pace today and should have no problems with the distance or very testing ground (now heavy at Lingfield). His first two runs this season give him a big chance in this very weak race and 5/1 looks fair E/W value.
R6 Lingfield Catchin Time. Horses can make fools of us, which is why I don't usually put up a short-priced one, but Catchin Time will be very hard to beat here. He showed promise when trained in Ireland and has won his last two races impressively for his new stable. The heavy ground will not be a problem and the opposition here is very weak indeed (his four rivals were all either tailed off or pulled up last time). I may be missing something, but even money looks a very big price (should be 4/7 in my pricing up of the race - and may well be near that come post time), but remember what I said about horses making fools of us......

Steck, do you think the Irish might have won if sent to the front before two out? was travelling bets then got stuck behind a few and took ages to warm up again.. the winner was impressive, but with these stayers you never know...

It would have been close, but I'm not sure he would have beaten the winner who travelled really well throughout the race - and the belief that he might not have won even with a clear run makes the pill a bit easier to swallow (as does collecting on the E/W of course). They clearly meant business with Dave's Stamper yesterday (punted from 12/1 early doors right down to 9/2).

the only draw back when backing horses that are ridden by their work rider or owner or daughter of the trainer is that they don't give the horse reminders and don't push the horse at all. The one I went for raced one off the back and only the last furlong did the rider make an effort (be it a pathetic one imo) to make as if the horse was really trying.

Young Jackie came from another continent to finish 3rd in her last run (had a proper jockey on) so with the amateur rider on I have my reservations.

Just like the first race. I never learn, all my life I go for blondes and I am still to learn after hoards of them.

You have got to respect Appelys runners so ANTIQUARIUM will either give a good account or tail off last

Just failed to get up, lost by a ball hair. If I could get a pound back for every 2nd that I have backed the I would be sipping pino colados somewhere exotic
