2015 J&b Met
10 years 6 months ago - 10 years 5 months ago
Louis The King and Legislate head a star-studded entry for the R2.5 million Grade 1 J&B Met over 2000m at Kenilworth on Saturday 31 January.
Louis The King, winner of last season’s Triple Crown and of last Saturday’s Gauteng Sansui Summer Cup, is one of four entries for Geoff Woodruff and the five-time champion trainer said after the victory: “I am very keen to take on Legislate and Futura in their own back yard.”
Woodruff’s other entries are Killua Castle, who came so close to springing a 66-1 shock in the Summer Cup, Rake’s Chestnut and Tellina.
Legislate, winner of the Vodacom Durban July, Daily News and Investec Cape Derby, broke the Kenilworth 1600m record on his return in last month’s Lanzerac Le General Green Point Stakes. He runs next in the L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate and is due to go to England via Mauritius after the Met.
Champions Cup winner and Durban July third Futura is one of three entries for Brett Crawford, who sent out Angus to win the Met in 2003. He has also entered last year’s Lanzerac Ready To Run winner Captain America and De Kock, who won the Selangor Cup in November last year.
Punta Arenas (third) finished closest of those entries that ran in last year’s race and will represent Stan Elley while Joey Ramsden has entered his Cape Classic and Selangor winner Act Of War who is expected to start favourite for the Grand Parade Cape Guineas on Saturday fortnight.
Particularly significant is Mike de Kock’s decision to enter Majmu, surely a measure of his confidence in this potentially brilliant filly in Saturday’s Avontuur Estate Cape Fillies Guineas.
There is a first supplementary entry stage on 17 December and a second one on 12 January. It is a condition of acceptance that all runners take part in public gallops at Kenilworth on 22 January although a horse “stabled out of province” on the day of the gallops may be allowed to work at a race meeting elsewhere before that date provided the gallop is filmed for screening on 22 January.
Entries for the J&B Met (Grade 1) over 2000m at Kenilworth on Saturday 31 January.

I think they have copied the nominations twice

Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Geez Bob, you say thanks and then show me an ask your mother for a six pence
Anyways, on a serious note, let "us" know who will be attending the meeting so we can meet up for a drink on the day, The Missing Link said he'll be there, we'll exchange contact details closer to the time.
Would like to meet Magi/The Madji (Mr. Francis) provided he leaves the bat at home .

Two top 3 year old's nominated for the Met. Would love to see at least one of them run. Can't remember many 3 year old's running since Horse Chestnut and Badgers Coast's victories.

10 years 6 months agoI'm not sure if this crop is that strong as previous years - Perhaps Act will be the one .. , King Of Pain, Gimmethegreenlight , Astro news and Run for it are also recent youngsters that took their place.shrek wrote: Two top 3 year old's nominated for the Met. Re: Nominations J&b Met
10 years 6 months ago - 10 years 6 months agoI disagree strongly - I think we are seeing week in week out when they go ground they fail against elders - Also now we have Laffs horse being rolled by the Van Vuuren horse in the Dingaans which to me is a sign of a weaker crop(No champ barring Act puting up his hand)- Also we had a Triple Crown winner last year and he trained on to win the Sansui - No sorry but for Majmu and Act Of War I think they are below last year - Remember we had a three-year-old July winner in that crop.Bob Brogan wrote:mr hawaii wrote:I'm not sure if this crop is that strong as previous years - Perhaps Act will be the one .. , King Of Pain, Gimmethegreenlight , Astro news and Run for it are also recent youngsters that took their place.shrek wrote: Two top 3 year old's nominated for the Met. I wonder what they are going to do with Rake's Chestnut. Will this horse just get a spot in the J&B Met? Or does he first have to start performing again?
