There has been 9 runners from his maiden win and no winners, that was an extremely poor field. Then he incurs a 12 point penalty for running 3rd in a feature, that's harsh. I'd be very surprised if this horse runs in the first 4.
In fairness it wasn't a strong field but he won by over 7 lengths, would've beaten a lot of better horses that day and ran a very strong third to a top sort over a distance thats a bit too far at this stage. Think the penalty is fair.

Bayern can I ask your opinion on Normanz race 4 beat 2 top sprinters in barbosa & red ray, no other horse in this field met that type of class big runner imo

10 years 6 months agoyes you might be right but all im saying is he got the rating based on his great run at level weights with group one horses over 1400m not the 1160m he goes sat...he ran 3rd to group one horses at level weights and they are rated 114 and 109 so what rating do you think he should have?bayern wrote:pirates wrote: Bayern the number of wins has nothing to do with a horses merit rating rather it is who they have competed against and how they fared

all I am trying to say Bayern is forget how many races a horse wins to determine its merit rating as jayed is a maiden with a rating of 109 and along came polly only ever won 2 races her whole life and they were both group ones ...

Craig, he won the Golden Horse, so must have a shout. For me, I just think the visiting coastal horses have it all to do at altitude, Craig E. has made reference of this - that last 50 or so, they are gasping for air. Digressing a bit, it wouldn't surprise me if they bet 7/1 the field come race time.

Pirates, he did not carry level weight with Harry's Son. That aside, do you agree he's badly weighted in Saturday's contest even if he is a MR 101, if you disagree, then he's the one to punt. Not for me admittedly.
Regards MR's, I have no clue on such matters. The point I'm trying to make, even if he is a MR 101, he is still out at the weights.

ok you correct but he carried the same weight as jayed who is a mr 109 so perhaps the hcapers have underated him...my concern is the drop in distance with him and he is untried against the older generation and I wrote on another thread that the current 3yo coltcrop at wfa terms has failed in the green point and matchem stakes ...I do not view these type of races and meetings as days to bet on rather ones to watch
